From having both the Canon GL2 and now the Sony VX2000 I definitely agree with Aaron the Sony is your best bet. Very good quality picture and looks good in low light levels.

The 2100 simply improves on the 2000 therefore the outcome is the same. The 2000/2100 win.

Try the canon gl2.

The PD150, now replaced with the PD170, is a Pro DV camera. It has better picture quality and better sound reproduction than either the VX2000 or VX2100 which are both MiniDV.

It gets a lot more technical than that....But that's the basics for you.

yes indeed big hommie... and I love it... I have shot on DVCAM and minidv and in my opnion I love the vx2100 you will not notice a difference at all between that and a dvcam type like the dsr250 or something... I am a sony fan myself... so I stuck with sony... the reason I got the vx2100 was the improvments from the 2000 like the lowlux lighting... the only downside is the fucking eyepiece.. it's huge.... but both are 1/3 3ccd cameras.... my partner just got a baddass camera as well... the pannasonic dvx100a another 3 grand camera... but it shoots 24p cinema style... in my opntion go with the vx2100 get the sony wide angel.. and shoot with it... you'll love it....

your wrong... if I set the both up on a tripod and shot the same thing between a pro style dvcam or a minidv cam you will not notice a difference.. trust me... if you think you will then go ahead and waste the extra 5 grand on the camera.... the only plus to the pd170 is the xlr imputs for audio... but if you get a good wireless transiever you can bypass that prob... I shoot tons of shit here besides porn... and some you have seen here in vegas... like the pirate show at the TI.. the big screen out front and in the hotel and at the airport was shot with a vx... so there you go

nope. any run of the mill mini dv cam that is not pro only has 1 or max 2 ccd. and that my friend reduces quality dramatically.

BTW.....You can get the PD170 for roughly the same price as the vx2100 so even if I were wrong about the picture quality you might as well get the better sound quality for the same money.

If I recall correctly, the PD170 shoots at a true 30fps where the vx2000/2100 do not. For web use...Who gives a fuck? I am starting to produce DVD's though and it does make a difference.

We're shooting here right now with both in Key West so it's easy to compare side by side results.

sony doesnt advertise 3ccd on their consumer cameras. look it up. only their pro cams have 3ccd.

I am telling you I shoot web/tv/dvd lots of commericals here in town and you can't see a difference... like I said the only difference is the mic and the double xlr inputs... not quality of the video itself....

the vx2100 is a consumer camera/ pro camera... go to bhphotovideo.com and look it up it's under both do you stand corrected?

First off the panasonic dvx100a is a superior camcorder compared to others stated here. In reality if you have 1ccd camcorder with a mic out and some good lighting skills . You cant tell the difference for webstuff, to me unless you are shooting for dvd or broadcast its a waste of money. Spend money on a good set of lights and learning how to use them will get you more quality than 3 ccd camcorder if you are shooting for the web.
