Who's got a recent working one? I tried smokies with the new googlebar, it stops em.

Anyone have anything recent that seems to be doing the trick? I'll owe ya...pay ya if it works for a bit.

The Truth Hurts 03-26-2004 02:53 PM

by google? 2 years and counting that they haven't tried to get their typos from me, so I'm not too worried about them suing me for popups....

no, by the people you're forcing popups on.. that specifically go out of their way to block them.

So how many people that go to the trouble to block popups do you think are really going to buy something from a popup?

That's like how many people are going to buy "pen1s p1lls" from a spam e-mail when they have specifically and conscientiously filtered "penis pills" from their e-mail?

Any sales you get are going to be sales you would have gotten anyway, probably even less than what you would have gotten from a good text link or creative webpage ad.

Why not work toward designing a page that converts rather than playing with tricks that will probably be shut out sooner than later?

make a popup that saya, "heya :) .. dont you hate these fucking popups? Ya, I know. Its ok :) Take a peek here ~"

Then link them so some softcore high class site.

NetRodent 03-26-2004 04:21 PM

When it was only the hardcore nerds and anti-popup activists using popup blockers it was pointless to try to evade them, however now that they've become mainstream popups that do get through are very effective. If you get fifty popups/day you learn to ignore them. If you get one or two, they make a much bigger impression on you.

the code i posted is the best around period..

Gets 90% of users. 8% are using retarted browsers , that leaves 2% for all those using whatever combo your using that doesn't seem to work for you..

can it be made closeable with another exit?

i'm trying to do a popunder that has exits on it

looks somewhat promising if that can be edited

My programmer guy has been trying to come up with an alternative to pop-ups. It only works in IE but it's pretty cool and makes it look like it's part of the browser. You'll notice that you can type in a URL in the Address bar and it stays there, plus you can click in and it stays there, etc. I think it's just a little more code and you can make it add itself to your list of search sites (i think).

If anyone wants to get a one-time license to use the script lemme know. $333 per licensee, unlimited domains as long as you own em, etc.

The Sex Pusher 03-26-2004 05:56 PM

what browser config are you using ?? console ? etc...

I just went and unistalled my google bar and my yahoo bar and installed fresh versions i.e. minutes ago, and my code gets by the popup blockers on both..

What is it you have that is conflicting ??

when i hit the first one, it does load a popup on enter, it hides both windows and they are both together, no extra window shows up on the windows bar (which i guess is how you are doing it...a layer)

but when i use the code, nothing works.

The first popup is like a layer , but from that page you can load any popup code and the popup blockers cant detect it..

So just use the basic popup code on the first page.. Then from that page pop a second page and blur it..

The Sex Pusher 03-26-2004 06:07 PM

dont try and use local files either. Always use external full path files like http://yourserver.com/page.html

Just make sure it doesnt conflict with something you already have.. When in doubt stick in an i frame with nothing on it..

When testing start with blank pages and add your page to the test page , not the other way around.. So you can tell what it is conflicting with , if it does..

appleboy 03-26-2004 06:57 PM

are there good resources even programmers around , I'd like a popunder script but can't seem to find one that isn't stoppable by zonelabs
