EviLGuY 05-04-2004 02:20 AM

She was explaining how she did it in some other thread too..

Something about using a long exposure..

VideoVoyeur 05-04-2004 02:23 AM

Problem:

If you open the lens to get a long exsposure then her whole body would be blurred from the movement.
I honestly think its alot of photoshop, the lines look to perfect to be written that large and in the air without seeing them.

Not if it were pitch black in the room. She said she used a flashlight to make the "gfy" and the room was completely dark. Just a flash to capture her initial image.

VideoVoyeur 05-04-2004 10:50 AM

Unless she wrote GFY perfectly in less then .0001 seconds the amount of time for a flash, then it didnt happen.

what a tricky bitch

Goose 05-04-2004 10:54 AM

I absolutely agreee...very nice!

VideoVoyeur 05-04-2004 10:55 AM

Also notice that her flashlight is at the Beginning of the letter G, if she had written it she would be at the end of the Y, unless she is VERY multi talented and wrote it backwards with a flashlight, but DIDNT move at ALL and did it in less then .0001 seconds.

Otherwise that image is a fake, its done with a sharpy pen on paper with either adobe photoshop or Bryce and the layers reversed with lens flares and lighting effects.

mind 05-04-2004 10:55 AM

looks photochopped to me...

VideoVoyeur 05-04-2004 10:56 AM

And actually if you look at it, notice at the ends of the letters how it has a start and a finish? She didnt use a flashlight, if she had the light source would have been continous.

Look at the ends of the lines in the letters and think Sharpie pen.

Read above.

TheFrog 05-04-2004 11:00 AM

looks fake to me, but still cool

Rob 05-04-2004 11:01 AM

Awesome picture one of my picks :thumbsup

lickmymonster 05-04-2004 11:29 AM

She is a graphic art student according to her profile. So I'm sure she has been exposed to photo 101. This shot wasn't done in one try. It is one of many that didn't turn out as well.

Time to pull out My Hosemaster. Looks like cheap digital fun.

jmarzlak 05-04-2004 11:34 AM

I dare someone to do there own version, haha

Michaelious 05-04-2004 11:35 AM

the gfy is clearly photoshopped. it looks amazing

Vitasoy 05-04-2004 11:36 AM

She was one of my votes. :thumbsup

Materialist 05-04-2004 11:38 AM

Cool effect.

jerseygirls 05-04-2004 11:48 AM

The shot is not easy but definetly doable without photoshop.

She could have had the flash go off fist as she sat there with the flashlight and posed.

Then with the exposure still open she could have written GFY in complete darkness. If she went over the mid "f" to mid "y" slowly that would account for the briteness there.

No it wouldn't. Apparently you have NO idea of a photography technique called "Light Painting". It's pretty much a branch of photography all it's own. The picture was NOT photoshopped.

LadyMischief 05-04-2004 11:52 AM

I've done a lot of light painting myself I will post the pictures at some point soon. Have to dig up the negatives and scan them again.

Wrestlingdiva 05-04-2004 11:56 AM

My friend who is a photographer told me that it could be possible, but in her opinion the photo it is most definatly photoshopped. Even if it was just to add the words to the picture. She said the flashlight would not create a highlight in a way that looks like it shines acrossed all 3 letters perfectly.

I didn't want to sound catty, but that came from a woman who has spent close to 30 years behind the lens.

I do really like the picture, its a cool effect.

Melvin the Dude 05-04-2004 12:08 PM

You people are talking out of your ass.

None of you knows how to operate a camera (a REAL camera) if you don't think this is real.

I can see it plain as day:

Room, pitch black.

Set the exposure to "Bulb".

Fire the first shot with a strobe, capturing the initial image of the model (flashlight is off)

Room is again pitch black.

Turn the flashlight on, start with the G, and work from right to left. (you can clearly see the "Y" is trailing out of the frame. This is where she exited the exposure)

Once she leaves out of the framing, you then release the shutter and the exposure is complete.

It would take several tries, but this is CLEARLY done by photography methods.

GFY to all you assholes talking shit because of a well thought-out & hahahahahahahad photo !!

I could duplicate it without any difficulty whatsoever on film.

So then tell me on my Nikon f4, what fstop would that be and on what aperature lens?

Don't ASSume no one here knows photography, MANY people know that I filmed movies for http://www.screengemsstudios.com for 11 years.

Except I admit, I didnt use "Real" cameras, mine were Arri cams and cost around $50,000 usd a piece.

It's Photoshopped, your ranting shows no evidence at all, and I have shown MORE then enough to show it is NOT a real image from a camera.
If your stacking MULTIPLE images onto 1 image, then yes, it would take a long time and it IS possible, but that is not what was done on the above image.

Also the competition was for the Best photograph, not best 10 photographs merged into 1.

She had said that this was ONE picture that she did. I was showing that THIS image could NOT have been done with ONE image as she herself stated.

Basic_man 05-04-2004 12:27 PM

Yeah, I agree too !

no, this is one photograph done with an instant of flash, and almost 10 full seconds of shutter time capturing a single light source.

Don't try to sound smart about something you don't know about.

It is possible, it has been done before and it will be done again.

Take your negativity elsewhere and stop trying to create drama where there isn't any.

Yes we covered the exsposure time, and as I said, with ONE photo with 10 seconds of exsposure, her WHOLE image would be blurred.

No, Im not smart, I was just hired to film movies that millions of people watched, as you sit at home with your walmart 1meg digital camera and pretend your a photographer.

You won't win man.

Your tripping over your own words now, earlier you said it was many photographs, now your saying its 1, so which is it :1orglaugh

Don't have a 1 meg digital camera and never been to Walmart.

So now that we've established you talk out of your ass, I'll just assume your entire post as such.

Earlier, I never said anything about it being many photographs. Care to show me where I did?

Again, talking out of ass.

VideoVoyeur 05-04-2004 01:07 PM

Okay you didnt say it was done with many photographs, your alter ego with the same exact ip said it, you even use alot of the same wording as in "talk out your ass"

The image is a fake.
