Anyone here ever filmed or participated in there own show on Public Access TV?
Our local cable system has opportunities for anyone to have a show on the P A Channel. I was thinking about doing this.
Anyone ever done a show themselves or participated in the filming or directing of one? They usually run for at least a half-hour or so and are amateur in nature. |
Not me, my brother once did it.. and it wasn't a good experience for him..

Yes. Did a 1 hour music video show. The focus was electronic music (moby, jungle brothers, underworld, massive attack, etc). I had a local hottie bartender host it and we shot it in a nightclub. I got all the videos from the record labels and had the local film school students edit the whole thing together. Sold some commercials to cover cost. Was a blast. Just lost interest after 6 months and the hostess moved to colorado.

One thing to consider also is advertising for the show itself. Packages here run @1250.00 per month. No one is gonna watch it if they don't know it's available. That's where it begins to get expensive but you can target your ads to run on specific blocks of channels (home & garden, MTV, etc.) I say go for it! :thumbsup

Sounds great! I haven't done it, but good luck - sounds like a cool concept!
If Mike Hunt can do it, so can you. He is this guy in Seattle who would show Max Hardcore films on his public access show, etc. The way the regulations were written for public access they couldn't make him stop for the graphic sex, had to get him based on broadcasting copyrighted material or something like that. The guy is a complete freak and moron, but everyone in western washington knows about "Mike Hunt". |
Yes I did for my friends show which was the longest running comedy show on piblic access in Westchester NY.
