wow great reasoning. you might want to quit porn and look into getting a career as a movie critic.

Rich 07-02-2004 12:23 AM

Well the TV says it's great, so people go see it. Don't blame Americans, they can't argue with the TV.

He'd still sound like an idiot since he'd be saying the opposite from the rest of the critics. :2 cents:

Mr.Fiction 07-02-2004 12:38 AM

The movie will probably be a hit all over the world, not just in the U.S.

EviLSuperstaR 07-02-2004 02:57 AM

Well the popularity of americans is at an all time low thanks to their fucked up rulers

V_RocKs 07-02-2004 02:59 AM

Yeah, it is like Water for Chocolate or something!

ADL Colin 07-02-2004 03:11 AM

What's even more amusing is that people all over the world will go to the theaters to watch it with overdubs and subtitles.

Ich bin Spiderman!

marcu5 07-02-2004 03:11 AM

Passed on the movie tonight, just doesn't seem entertaining. They ended up coming back saying it was a waste of time romantic flick.

AnalProbe 07-02-2004 03:12 AM

C'mon guys...

Spiderman is gay, just like Batman and Robin.

The fact that a lot of Americans went to see a summer-fun movie based on a long-time favorite comic strip says precisely what, exactly?

No, really, I'm curious. If it says a lot, you should be able to produce a fairly long, interesting post.

Raf1 07-02-2004 04:45 AM

the first movie was crap, so I guess this one should be better. I'll watch it only if there are no other movies on my computer at that time. I wouldn't go to the movies to see it..

AnalProbe 07-02-2004 04:55 AM

In the first movie, the mask of his enemy, is SO PLASTIC.

Toys'R'us has better ones.

loco12 07-02-2004 06:47 AM

Saw the first one thought it was mediocre entertainment. Then was amazed at how well it did in the US box office. In europe it did ok but nothing special.

Expect the second one to flow the same pattern. Big in the uS but average box office elsewhere.

Certainly doesn't have the worldwide pulling power of Lord Of The Rings.:2 cents:

gornyhuy 07-02-2004 06:49 AM

Guys - this is a Cylon speaking...

Somebody call Starbuck and Apollo and take this fucker out with one shot. :Graucho

True but you can say that about any series. Only Harry Potter even comes close to the world box office of LOTR. So I think its a bit unfair to compare Spider-Man series ( & the Star Wars series for that matter) to LOTR, as Spidey and Star Wars are mostly American phenomenons.

Some movies are just tailored more for North America, like "The Passion of the Christ." For instance it made nothing in Japan. They don't care:

Domestic: $370,167,453 60.8%
+ Overseas: $238,443,439 39.2%

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

= Worldwide: $608,610,892

So just take Spidey for what it is............its a comic that most of us grew up with and Sam Raimi has done it proud.

:2 cents:

I'd like to know your opinion on other "fantasy genres" then, like The Lord of the Rings. Do you just hate fantasy in general or Spidey in particular?

bopha 07-02-2004 07:37 AM

Popcorn movies are huge in the summer. I'm just so glad that this summer's 4th of July Movie doesn't star Big Willy Style. He had like a 4 year run.

yeah nice name too bad its emma rose and not mary jane.

TheSaint 07-02-2004 08:10 AM

Actually for this genre of movie the Spidermans are both prety good, much better than the usual crap that passes for a movie, i.e., all action and no plot at all.

Give me a goofy love story anytime over yet another special effects movie with non-stop killing and a plot designed for 9 year olds....

only dorks watch that shit

2MuchMark 12-07-2017 10:05 AM

The new Spiderman movies that are in the MCU, are better than the previous ones. For me though, even though I *LOVE* the MCU, Spiderman doesn't hold that much interest. I watched the last one, Spiderman: Homecoming, more to make sure I stayed up to date with the overall story arc of the MC Universe more than anything else.

It was OK, but I could have waited for it to come to Netflix or on-demand.

Porko 12-07-2017 11:08 AM

I saw it and it was horrible, plastic and soulless.

I prefer the 2002's version directed by Sam Raimi. Much better and real.

:thumbsup

I felt the same about the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man but the most recent Spiderman is the best yet! New actor with tons of unique energy very awesome. Loved it. Big difference

pornguy 12-07-2017 02:42 PM
