Traffic Cash Gold (GAME OVER?)

Wow...
nothing like your whole program having down time.....

I mean your whole entire network OFFLINE

I had to take down their links this morning....
No since linking to a paysite that isn't even up

jact 08-09-2004 03:56 PM

Yeah, because we all know that downtime means you're out of business.

Lycanthrope 08-09-2004 03:56 PM

You are correct. The game is over and they are never coming back online.

BRISK 08-09-2004 03:58 PM

Been down for sooooo loooong now :(

NiteRain 08-09-2004 04:01 PM

Probably upgrading their DB or upgrading their internet infrastructure (load balancers etc), that is the only thing I can think of that would bring everything down like that.

Platinum/Lantern 08-09-2004 04:01 PM

Put it this way...
I'm a minor promoter of their program...

But I think this is a serious serious fuck-up/problem
I know webmasters that will stay away from them for a long time after a problem like this.....

It's been down for a SERIOUSLY LONG TIME...
approaching 24 hours now if not already

Sly_RJ 08-09-2004 04:02 PM

I bet Charles is going crazy...

BradM 08-09-2004 04:02 PM

youll be compensated. No one is happy it's down. shit I am a SMALLL promoter and it upset me. But JB's statement ensured to me that when they go back up they still get my traffic.

Not necessarily, one time TCG was down for a day, then there was one time in 2000 it was down for 3 to 4 hours because of the DBA they had at the time, you know his ass was fired after that.

WiredGuy 08-09-2004 04:05 PM

If it was game over for them you would have heard about my suicide attempt. I have nearly 2 months of uncashed checks here from them, definitely would send me to the hospital if they went under!

Yeah, but I think he's taking some comfort in the fact that all is not lost with them paying for average sales + 10% bonus.

I've been promoting sponsors long enough to know downtime happens with all of them. This is one of the main reasons I send my traffic to as many different sponsors as possible. Everyone knows (or should know) putting all your eggs in one basket is unwise.

stevecore 08-09-2004 04:07 PM

i hope i dont have anything to do with it... i told BT yesterday about broken images throughout the site, then poof... TCG is gone. I talked to him early today and he said it would be about 5 hours till everything is back up so I have no worries.

BTW you can still get top-notch support from them even in their downtime. BT was nice enough to compile and code numerous FHG's for me since I couldn't get into TCG.

Yeah BT rocks.

wargames 08-09-2004 04:15 PM

Everybody keeps tripping out on this. Talk to one of the reps there almost done fixing there issues and you will be credited for the sales. :thumbsup

zzgundamnzz 08-09-2004 04:15 PM

I think Arnold said it best: "They'll be back" :)

No worries here, they'll probably compsensate for the downtime too.

Mike AI 08-09-2004 04:16 PM

TCG has had serious issues in the past and have always bounced back stronger then ever.

I am sure this is a minor blip.

BruceM 08-09-2004 04:21 PM

I'm not worried. They've always taken care of their affiliates and we'll be compensated.

Thats a very good question, I learned in business from a boss I had. To always slap the check which meant within 24hrs the check was in the bank. Also on TCG checks it says void after 90 days .

They are paying you during the down time based on your average earnings ... don't complain too much

My accountant has been really pre-occupied dealing with Revenue Canada and the on-going audit of my company. I'm trying to get him to catch up on all accounting and outstanding invoices before Internext and deal with the feds at the same time so he's rather stressed.

Yup, I'm aware of the 90 day limit. I'm more worried about the sponsors that have 60 day limits as those are about to lapse by the end of the week if I don't cash them.

I'm not exactly sure how your operation works, but what is preventing you making a photocopy of all the checks, depositing them in the company account, and handing the copies to the accountant to let him know that they have been deposited.

Then again, you do have time, I guess there's no rush, and no reason for me to butt into your business. :glugglug

Someone needs to do that and I don't have the time to. My accountant could but he's already swamped. Receptionist at my office is shared between all the offices and that would take too much time. I'll get it done before Internext if my accountant can't.

Not to worry!!!:winkwink:

Guys trust me I am not making up stuff.. It was Network Appliance machine thats about $60k.. It has 36 drives and
all the data is mirroed across the drives. It is very unusual
that 2 drives go bad at same time with a machine like this.

We run cachefs on the tour servers but still has to call
the Net App box and in my wildest dreams did I ever
imagine 2 drives would go bad. Heck we even keep a spare
drive in stock for this exact reason. But it is not the type
of drive you can get at comp USA. Believe me I am sick
to my stomach about this down time and highly frustrated.

We are working as fast as we can and will be implementing
another round of redundancy to be pro active in the future.

We host with cavecreek and there is no other agenda or
issues than what I discussed. Ron C is a good friend of mine
and Ian at cavecreek knows about the problem but there is
not a darn thing they can do until we get the drive here installed
and tested.

I wish there was more I could tell you,, like I said before if
its any consolation ALL webmasters will be paid plus 10%
so Mike even though it sucks big time that we are down you will get more money on your next check.

You can tell how many people are promoting TCG that there is THIS much outrage when they are down. :Graucho

I think it shows they are doing pretty well...

ClamSmacker 08-10-2004 07:13 AM

I would like to give them a pat on the back for creating such a user friendly affiliate program.

Hope things get back to normal soon as :winkwink:
