I think a better question would be why would you convert wvm to avi? You want to force the viewers to d/l some codec or something?

why would you want to change a video from wmv to avi? it's already been compressed once. Go back to the raw footage.

Unfortunately I don't have the raw footage, and apparently neither do the people providing the clips.

If you're using premiere, you would have to convert the WMV to AVI anyway to edit.

Premiere no like anything but AVI...or else the audio gets all screwy.
