Those who claim that exposure to pornography or violent fantasy pornography causes sexual abuse and/or criminal behaviour should give close thought to the fact that, in so doing, they offer criminals a 20th Century excuse to support pleas for leniency, regardless of the fact that sexual abuse, rapes and sex crimes has been occurring since long before the invention of the camera.

Duhhh. I still don't see why this is so hard for some people here to figure out. Seems pretty plain-as-day to me.

These "studies" that show a link between pornography and crime are just like any other statistic - easily manipulated. I'm sure there is a pattern between porn and crime and/or sexual abuse. But it's not the porn causing the crime and/or sexual abuse. Criminals, the sexually abused, and sexual abusers are more likely to have difficulties with normal relationships, and thus more likely to use porn as an outlet for their sexual expression. This is the reason for the pattern - it's not a cause/effect type deal (but let's not kid ourselves - while many porn surfers are normal, we also deal with the dregs of society in this biz)

Agreed. I'll also add in that abhorrent behavior is often self-perpetuating in that it is passed on from parent to child over and over.

Again I'll suggest we ban stupid parents (and nip the problem at the source)
