A cheap method of advertising on GFY?
Posting competitions have become quite the advertising tool on GFY in recent months, so it was only a matter of time before somebody (intentionally or unintentionally, who knows...) exploited this mean of advertising...
I'm writing this in relation to the cams.com competition thread contest where Irish Pimp posted 49 times in a row on his own competition linky of consec posts ultimately leading to it getting shutdown by Lensman. Of course, the competition stated that if the thread was closed, the competition was null. Now it would appear that cams.com got over two weeks of advertising, and then basically nullified their own contest. i know the lars group are stand up guys and paying out the prizes isnt exaclty an issue to such a program but at the same time this issue needs to be discussed. |
Indeed, shitty thing to do to say the least...
|
hmmm that's awkward... Lars is always a standup guy
|
Lars is a good guy.
|
It was closed after steen2 made a ton of consecutive posts.... so he's probably just as much to blame as Irish Pimp.
That being said, I don't think anyone "intentionally" posted in it with the intention of getting the thing closed, except for Lensman himself. |
I agree 110%.... everyone knows lars is a stand up guy :)
I'm sure that he will pull through on this, I just feel that the issue needs to be addressed for the future. Perhaps a better solution would be for lens to let such contest finish, but forbid the sponsor from holding any more. |
Lars and Sean had a little inside joke going about who would post more between the two of them. It looks like Sean was trying to stay ahead of Lars. I don't think they were aware that posting several times in a row was against GFY rules.

These contests need to prohibit consecutive posts and posters that collude (ie coordinate posts) will be booted from here.

A simple solution is just allowing those with top banners to host contests... :pimp

It's good to have this new rule for contests.

My apologies, obviously I didn't mean to cause harm, and did not expect that.

Better yet, contest starters cant compete in their own threads.

It only takes one loser to fuck it up for everyone. Hopefully Lens keeps his cool.

Thank god we have you all to 'out' a long time PAID advertiser for posting consecutively too many times in their own contest thread. I know I'll sleep better tonight... :helpme |
how come no one whines when Lensman put's his threads on top?
|
maybe they need to deposit the prize money in an escro account before the competition. If its closed, the money paid to the winners and something with the rest....

If Lars has anything to do with it he'll make it right :)

i got to have a look dude :) |
making some 3 consecutive posts is not a really bad thing...as sometimes the thread is full of questions and you answer all of them in a row...but when you are posting just for posting this is not a really nice thing to be done...
|
look guys, i feel bad about that thread getting closed.
lars and i were having a little battle to see who would be posting more in that thread, and i took it too far and i think that i was the reason the thread got closed. there were others that had consecutive posts, and there were others that posted 50 times in a row in that thread, but i was the last one that did so. lesson learned, and i wont hammer on a contest thread that we start. we are just waiting a few more days to have it cool off a bit, and we will have a new contest with rules in it that curb that type of posting. in that contest, im going to make the last one right. |
