Question about spyware and losing sales

Quote from another thread "Are you positive that your computer is free of spyware? I'm not sure if this is a problem in this "biz" yet, but we have this problem quite frequently in mainstream where spyware on a surfer's pc will overwrite their cookie or alter the link so that the spyware vendor gets paid for the sale/signup rather than the webmaster."

Can you detect this kind of activity?

Do you think this is a major issue?

Just curious about it, after all In the end the sponsor still gets a sale.

A good % of signups are most likely stolen. Just look how many surfers are infected.

It is hard to detect it unless you follow some links.

Yes it is a major issue and there are some big "respected" names involved with it.
