A 16 year old girl gives $500K to Katrina victims

Michelle Wie, newly pro golfer at 16, has donated $500,000 to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

She has equally donated as much as P Diddy and Jay Z and more than Shaq and Kobe Bryant.

Yet, thse fools are worth more than she is.

Fucking pathetic!

sweetcuties 10-05-2005 12:41 PM

she doesn't need a publicity stunt because she's been in the news about turning pro at such a young age and coming in a $10 million endorsement deal. This is a long time coming. No need to do this for attention.

When she's legal of course.... :upsidedow

MetaMan 10-05-2005 12:48 PM

why is it pathetic if you donate? i hate when people compare how much $ people are donating based on their worth.

the fact that they are even giving ANY money to a cause gets my :thumbsup

you should never diss someone based on the amount they give, giving ANYTHING shows you care about the cause. :2 cents:

It's good either way, though they're comparing % and the 16 year old gave a much larger % and likely find it sad that people with tens to hundreads of millions more give a small % of their earnings / networth.

I think it's bullshit that you expect the wealthy to pay for the poor. They are lucky to get anything at all...

Vitasoy 10-05-2005 12:55 PM

Props to her, two thumbs up.. :thumbsup :thumbsup

pornguy 10-05-2005 12:56 PM

They are only doing it to look good in the eyes of the media.

pornmonger 10-05-2005 01:17 PM

It's about black people crying out loud saying that no one cares about the poor black folks. When reality is the rich black folks don't care about the poor black folks.

if that's the case, then why is the US expected to give more when it comes to International crisises?

where did i say the usa is expected to give more? i dont think they should.

pornmonger 10-05-2005 01:27 PM

Yes when it comes to African aid. Among the G8, the US gives the most money but in relation to the % of GDP it is the least. Other countries expect us to give more in relation to % of GDP.

Yup some CEOs with hundreds of millions don't give shit unless they get tax cuts :Oh crap

KCat 10-05-2005 01:57 PM

Good for her! Who cares if she benefits from the publicity?

I'd much rather see a young girl making headlines for setting a good example rather than seeing the latest "What Britney Spears Ordered From Starbucks" shit.

Yes but that (their personality) is the reason that made them millions. It's simply the way they are.

Personality?? :winkwink: It may help, but hard to see that is a reason they ended up with millions.

I can think of a friend who.. well, he's gotta be the worst "self-PR" that ever walked the planet. His TV interviews make ya cringe. But despite that, his personal assets are well over two billion dollars. He got it by working and a degree of risk-talking in his earlier 'career', - sure not on personality! :)
