When Did Cell Phones Replace Lighters At Concerts? I was at the Hollywood Bowl the other night and I noticed that when the slow song was performed everyone opened their cell phone for light instead of their lighters. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN ? I never got the memo about this :mad: It tripped me the fuck out :1orglaugh I must be getting old :helpme The pic below is the way I remember it. Do you think this cell phone crap goes on at 80's butt rock show? (i.e) van halen, scorpions, motley crue?

Well yeah, that was the other thing. Flash bulbs were constantly going off. There must be millions of unauthorized photos out there. It must be on a case by case basis depending on the band and venue etc...yes?

I think it was when they stopped letting people smoke anywhere in public. I've never been a smoker, but it's getting ridiculous. You go to a bar & there's a bigger crowd hanging around outside on the sidewalk that's covered in butts.

As soon as news got out that you could kill yourself over time with a cell phone. Nothing gives off the bad boy image like talking to your girlfriend on the celly

I took my daughter to see Green Day a few months back. You weren't even allowed to take a lighter into the arena! My chemical Romance opened for them and the lead singer is telling everyone to get out their lighters. Someone told him they were banned and he went with the celphone option, so it can't be that old of a thing since lighters where his initial choice.

It's just what's in today. Lighters are so yesterday.
