Your First Concert, Who did you see?

Looking at the thread for your first album brought back memories of my First Concert. I remember it vividly, it was at the Capital Theater in Passaic NJ and i went to see Motorhead, Merciful Fate and Exciter when i was 14 years old. Boy that was 22 years ago and time really flys.

So what was your first concert?

Ice 01-29-2006 05:52 PM

Cory Hart who opened for April Wine in Vancouver BC

My first was Electric Light Orchestra. It was their 'Can't Get It Out Of My Head' tour and it was at the Spectrum in Philly. It was 1974, I was 14, we had 2nd row seats right in front of the stage and the friend that I went with actually caught one of the drum sticks that the drummer threw out into the crowd. Good memories for me. :thumbsup

I am not ashamed to admit that I was 11 and my mom took me to see Alice Cooper and Vinnie Vincent Invasion!! It kicked ass!

SinisterStudios 01-29-2006 05:59 PM

Neal Pert is a drumming god :thumbsup

My first concern was Kansas!

pawsregd 01-29-2006 06:00 PM

Bon Jovi probably in '97 or '98

shermo 01-29-2006 06:00 PM

Hmm... 1st concert was at 10 I think... Guns and Roses & Metallica in the Snake Pit. My friend's mom was a music manager and she wanted to take us.

Was an amazing time, but those guys sure loved to spit!

I hope you wouldn't be ashamed of that. Vinnie Vincent Invasion? They were the headliners?

I get my nick from Alice Cooper, most people round these boards to youngto know that. :)

The reason I started playing. Still kicks ass too.

Sly 01-29-2006 06:02 PM

Aerosmith followed by Kiss. Think I was 14 or so. The Aerosmith show was the first time I caught the scent of weed, haha.

Sickthing 01-29-2006 06:03 PM

ZZtop first that I paid for. Alice Cooper was the second I paid for. I think Larry Raspberry and the High Steppers was the first one. About 1975. Free outdoor show on July 4th and my damn Pinto broke down. Remember the Pinto? LOL He had one number one hit as part of the Gentrys. The guy is good, saw him a few years ago, he's not lost a step.

Peter_ANYwebcam 01-29-2006 06:03 PM

Status Quo supported by Chuck Berry, in there "Rocking all over the World" tour, it was held in Melbourne festival hall and I was around 17, we had front row seats, it was soooo LOUD but fantastic. Damn that was almost 30 years ago:(

SilentKnight 01-29-2006 06:05 PM

Max Webster at Sutton High back in....hmm, think it was 1979. They'd just released 'Live Magnetic Air'.

First big stadium concert was Genesis - Abacab tour at Maple Leaf Gardens (Dec. '81).

King Adam 01-29-2006 06:06 PM

Its a shame, but my mom dragged me to Air Supply for my first concert.

The first concert I went to on my own ..... KISS. What a show.

baddog 01-29-2006 06:08 PM

Back in the day, you would get a concert like this for $3-6

Head Over Heals
Grass Roots
Steppenwolf
Three Dog Night

Nookster 01-29-2006 06:09 PM

My first concert: The Grateful Dead @ Oakland Coliseum, CA (1994). Those were the days. :thumbsup

Abithefiend 01-29-2006 06:17 PM

I'm almost embarrassed to say this but A-ha. I had a thing for Morten Harket lol but I was 12 or so at the time! Every band I have since seen though has been rock or metal.

LauraLee 01-29-2006 06:23 PM

Eek, i was in 3rd grade- so about 8 years old... Wham with the Pointer Sisters and KC and the Sunshine Band as the openers. LOL good fucking times :1orglaugh

Tom_PM 01-29-2006 06:29 PM

First "real" concert? (no parents, lots of pot smoke in the air?) was Doobie Brothers around 1976 or so. I don't remember who the opening band was.
Was a good first concert though, because I was with a couple of my brothers, crushed up against the retaining wall right in front of the stage. I think the tickets were $7.50 or so.

Daruma 01-29-2006 06:32 PM

Rush here also - over 20 years ago

Moraxian 01-29-2006 06:52 PM

It was 1977... got to see Yes with their classic line-up... Awesome show.

Rodhead 01-29-2006 06:56 PM

Status Quo. That means I could either be 3 years old or 43 years old!

C_U_Next_Tuesday 01-29-2006 07:02 PM

psychedelic furs with the dvynals starting up 1982..it sucked and I caught some chicks hair on fire while trying to smoke a bowl without getting caught. My next concert was Grateful Dead...much better.

Yngwie 01-29-2006 07:17 PM

Helix.. forget what year it was.

sickbeatz 01-29-2006 07:19 PM

James Brown..
Best concert I've experienced in my 22 years on this planet

sickbeatz 01-29-2006 07:25 PM

I've been to concerts before James Brown though.. However, I didn't really... see them. The first concert I attended was a Snoop Dogg concert. I was backstage but I heard some of it plus saw some of the performance on some monitors they had setup. We left the venue before the show was over cuz the beer was costed too much + we wanted to get into the after party at a strip joint near by before the show was over so we wouldnt be hounded with people begging to get in and trying for their life to get a pass

ColetteX 01-29-2006 07:25 PM

I grew up at music festivals & concerts, but the first I went to on my own with friends was Beastie Boys/Run DMC at the Greek Theatre in LA
