There are no more famous ancient sites within Egypt, or for that matter elsewhere in the world, than the Great Pyramids at Giza. They are, without question, the icon most associated with the Egypt. They have been both the main destination for tourists, and a source of imaginative thought to the world for over three thousand years.

However, there are actually over 100 pyramids in Egypt, many of which are relatively unknown to anyone who is not an ancient Egypt enthusiast. All but a very few are grouped around and near the City of Cairo, just south of the Nile Delta. Otherwise, only one royal pyramid is known in southern Egypt (at Abydos), that being the one built by Ahmose, founder of the 18th Dynasty and Egypt's New Kingdom. It may have also been the last royal pyramid built in Egypt.

I went to Egypt in 2000. It's amazing to see these things up close and in person. It's awe inspiring and humbling.

My mom moved to Cairo 15 years ago after she fell in love with an Egyptian pilot. She is america and he is egyptain. He is a great friend and step father.

I've been lucky enough to go there 5 times. I've hiked in the pyramids, through the Cairo museum, gone to the Vally of the Kings and scuba diving in the red sea.

I think Egypt is the only cool Arab country. The people were always good to us and their is so much history and knowledge in Egypt. Can't wait to go back.

Never been there. Honestly, right now, I wouldn't got anywhere in the middle east. My mom says its fine in Egypt. She has blonde hair, blue eyes .. a cali girl. No one bothers here there.

I'd love to do a Safari though. Trying to get my folks over there to set one up with me.

My parents went when I was about 10 and it was certainly one of the trips of their lives. We learned alot about Egypt just from the stuff they brought back. I would very much like ot go one day but I have to admit to being a bit uneasy about it at the moment.
