Da Vinci Code - just got back... small review

And I was pleasantly surprised.

After reading all the reviews I was really worried about it, but got dragged along to stand in line & see it despite the large crowd and questionable quality.

Now, one thing I did dislike was I felt a bit cheated by the flick. There were a lot of (I thought) meaningful things missing from it, and too much emphasis was placed on the *genealogy result* (don't want to spoil it for anyone) and not enough of the story's plot points/climax.

I think they could have added a good 30-45 more minutes and dedicated it to wrapping up the story rather than ending with the message.

But that's just my :2 cents: on that.

On the other hand, Ian Mckellan (sp?) did a superb job, I was floored; so to speak, at how wonderful an actor he truly is. In my opinion he made the movie.

Tom Hanks actually surprised me, he usually has the same persona in his movies, and actually managed to switch it up and present an entirely new character rather than the typical Tom Hanks role, if that makes any sense.

Either way, I would recommend seeing it. This is more of an afternoon matinee flick where you don't have to compete with a crowd, though. Definately worth seeing it in the theatres under those conditions.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

It's a good thing, too.

If ever you did put a stop to them you'd have to change your name to Theo The Buddhist, which unfortunately doesn't have the same ring to it.

Just got back from it as well. Worth the time and spending.

The movie is the book in pictures, i do agree about the 30-45 minutes they could have add.

Heard that Sophie Neveux actress acting was lame, i disagree... The profile in the book was played very well by "i dont remember her name"

I recommand the trip to the theater to everyone that to often have pre-made ideas.

surely a nice movie

You think Tom Hanks always play the same dude ? Somehow I find him, DeCaprio and a couple other few have the versality to play diverse roles.

He's the best paid in hollywood and have been for a while now...

Anyone who thinks Tom Hanks can't act and present different persona's on film knows little about acting.

Are they saying the characters he plays in Forest Gump, Apollo 13, Road to Redemption and Castaway are all the same?

The Ghost 05-21-2006 12:06 AM

Tom Hanks is one of the few actors who I never think of as himself. Whenever I see him in a movie. I buy the fact that he's the character he's plays. Very few actors have that range, and especially ones that have been in anywhere near the blockbuster movies he's been in.

I do think the character wasn't as dynamic as some that he's played in the past, but I was entertained pretty much throughout the entire movie. And really that's all I ask for from a movie.

You guys have never noticed his pacing in his roles?

The pauses and breaks between words etc.?

Forest Gump is a whole different animal of course, the same with a few other flicks.

I never said he was a BAD actor, by the way Paul Markham.

I never said I was an expert, either.

My gf was so bored from the movie she made me a blowjob and I got a nap right after it.. All I remember that without Jean Reno I would fall asleep much faster and that Audrey Tautou shoud finish her actor career right now....

xclusive 05-21-2006 04:18 AM

My wife wants to see it so i'll probably see it soon, Happy that it doesn't suck:)

RayBonga 05-21-2006 04:19 AM

Maybe I'll check it anyway.

NemesiS876 05-21-2006 07:19 PM

It is all wrong...!

WonderWoman 05-21-2006 07:54 PM

I liked it. It makes you stop and think. Catholic Church imo has generally ruled by fear. So I dont know how much truth there is to that theory, but you gotta know somethings up.

Just my :2 cents:

Screaming 05-21-2006 08:03 PM

I would watch it too and see why those religous groups dislike the movie.

Sinstar 05-22-2006 10:12 AM

I guess I'll go see it. Wasn't planning to, but curiosity is getting the better of me.
