Mainstream Website Design - Please critique

I just designed this for a friend in Tijuana, and I thought I'd run it by you to see what you think. It's just the index page for now:

I feel like you have a really nice start. Its a little awkward how it fits together. Just that it doesn't exactly gel all together. But i'm sure you can make it happen :thumbsup

It seems that the logo is a little crooked at both the top of the page and in the flash slideshow. Overall its a good start. The only other suggestions that I have is you might want to consider making the text in the white areas a little darker. :thumbsup

the logo was provided by the client like that, and yes, I agree that it is crooked, but I didn't want to do anything with it until I talked to him.
I do intend on fixing it, also I want to increase the jpeg quality on the flash file.

I know what you mean. The original idea that I offered himwas the go with all straight lines, no curves. But when he saw the site, he asked me to add a curve on top. I would've preferred to do it like my original design, but... it's his site :)

What I was more kind of talking about was just how everything is separated. Kind of like a TV dinner how none of the food touches...

Sometime a little cobbler hitting your chicken fried steak doesn't hurt though :thumbsup
