Why the hell are you on 4chan? If you're not twelve, or a pedophile, you have no business being there.

4chan invaded a couple sites I had before, so I am well attuned to them and their incredible bandwidth sucking ways.

I had the incredibly stupid idea of doing a study of subcultures on the internet for some course on cultural philosophy. My professor, knowing nothing about the internet whatsoever, liked the idea. So I can't really back down anymore...

I'm kinda looking forward to doing a section on shocking memes, like goatse and *******, though. Describing those in philosophical language will be hilarious :1orglaugh

I just realized, I must need a beer.

The "random" themed picture message board on 4chan.org. It moves 50 times as fast as GFY, is filled with everything from shock pictures to hentai to underage camwhores, has a user population consisting of anime geeks, pedophiles and 12 year olds, and regularly spawns pieces of internet culture that end up in places like GFY.

If the internet is a cesspool, /b/ is at the very bottom of it. Nevertheless, it has a large influence on online culture.

You poor, poor bastard.

You should have chosen something simpler and much more, uh, refined these days like B3TA, or SomethingAwful. They don't tend to do much of that beyond-the-fringe these days - which is why I guess you chose /b/.

Good luck explaining that it was 'for reference'. I stumbled onto /b/ on a 'furry porn friday', and man, haven't been the same since. :(
