So Baseball Is Basically A Game Were Cheating Is The Norm

Steriods
Corked Bats
Pitchers Altering The Ball

The guys who play the game and have played the game for many many years are basically saying that the above goes on routinely and the rule is "just don't get caught"

I'm really dissapointed to know that cheating "doing things against the rules"
Is so widely done.

What kind of message does this give to the youth who admire these players and love this sport. Cheating is ok because lots of people do it?

I agree and lets not forget our friend Pete Rose and his gambling on major league teams or basketball players that fight the fans...these fucks are role models and they are paid accordingly and they need to be that or fuck them?

you would think they would put it in their glove since it can get on the ball when they hit it and explain it that way, on your hand so everyone can see it, who knows. people playing for millions of dollars are going to do anything they can to get ahead, GO TIGERS!!

They are athletes. Nobody is paying them to be role models. They are paid to win and make the owners money. Some will naturally cheat, like it or not. They are in no way role models though. If that is really the case for people, then they have their priorities all fucked up.

argue its right or wrong all you want but at the end of the day, this is the truth

Without the drama I wouldn't care about baseball at all.

At the end of the season they should have an allstar game where one team is made up of players who were arrested, caught cheating, or otherwise involved in a scandal and the other team is made up of positive role models.
The ratings would be better than the World Series.

I still do not see this as the athletes responsibility.

Living life, having millions of people watching what you do, idolizing your play, and buying your merchandise to advertise your name......

this isnt a responsibility? Maybe they arent asking for it, maybe its not fair to expect them to carry it, but it is a responsibility.

Sports is an adult world. I dont buy the role model argument...

...And with any sports, I've always felt...

Cheating is when you are doing something to give you an edge over the competition. If everyone is doing it then there is no edge. Even playing field.

To sum it up. I really could care less about this.

HOWEVER...KENNY! MAKE IT SO THAT EVERYONE WITH A TV BIGGER THAN 12" CAN'T SEE IT!!!

I'm more upset about the lack of common sense here than the cheating aspect :1orglaugh

if youre not cheating youre not trying hard enough

No wrong.

It's a buisness and includes moral clauses in the contracts and everything.

When your paying one guy 40x as much as the next guy it isn't because he is 40x the player it's because he is a star attraction.

And that makes me wrong how?
It is a business to make the owners money.

Just because they may have moral clauses does not mean shit as to them being role models. Many of the "greats" in the past were alcoholics etc.

sickkittens 10-24-2006 01:32 PM

Why is when a guy gets caught w/ steroids in football it gets almost no coverage?

Of course it does.

The players represent the teams in which they play for.

They use players for advertising the team's name.

Think about it. Using your logic there is no such thing as a role model.

Those guys are role models.

Baseball is like a F1 race.

Football is like monster trucks :1orglaugh

mikeet 10-24-2006 01:51 PM

Who fucking cares, he washed it off after the first inning.
Hell, he didn't even need it anyway.
Kenny is not a role model ... hes just a pitcher that makes a shitload of money.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Go Tigers!
