That's VERY fucked up....

The dollar is getting lower and lower every single day over her too..

A year ago the exchange rate was US$1 = R$2,70.

Now it's getting around US$1 = R$1,80!!!

Tempest 07-23-2007 03:34 PM

I got 1.02 on Friday.

WiredGuy 07-23-2007 03:36 PM

I'm glad I prepaid 2007 taxes now. I knew the rates would get worse, and it wouldn't shock me to see par by xmas.

Like I was saying... America is going to shit.

If you don't believe me, stay tuned! By this time next year we will all wonder how one man could single handedly ruin an entire countries way of life.

Calico Jack 07-23-2007 04:09 PM

Aussies are in the same boat, yesterday the dollar was at 88 cents and going to hit 90 cents anytime now. There's also talk we may be on par with the green back by the end of the year. Yikes!
I remember the good old days of 48 cents, wheb we were literally doubling our money. That was only 6 years ago too.

pornask 07-23-2007 04:09 PM

Expect to see par well before Christmas. Here in Australia it's .88 cents and the banks and economists are talking parity within a few months.

jact 07-23-2007 04:48 PM

I got 1.025 CDN the other day, sucked.

Spunky 07-23-2007 06:47 PM

The good ole days are long gone

buddyjuf 07-23-2007 06:52 PM

Its disgusting, especially when you get paid in US$ and live in Canada...

the WORST part, is that products here in Canada are still prices at 1.5X the american price.

so lets say a laptop is 2000$USD in new york, the same one will be 3000$CAD

also, we pay 15% tax here in Montreal, so the same laptop is costing us 3450$CAD...

and if we want to bring something in from the USA, customs fuck us...

uno 07-23-2007 06:55 PM

The canadian dollar surpassed the USD?

I'm having a brain meltdown.

Blue Player 07-23-2007 06:58 PM

Trying living in West London. I need $2 for every £1. The dollar is a fucked currency. They will switch to Euros for oil trading soon.

that is right ... nothing came down in prices ( US cars, gas, imported US produce.) ...

And if ever it shifted back to the US stronger, those same prices would raise like a 65 year old that swallowed a Viagra bottle ... :2 cents:

IllTestYourGirls 07-23-2007 07:41 PM

hmmm would it have all been different if you all backed our Iraq invasion?

My $1.00 says yes.

I am in no way saying you should have backed the US, just saying if you did you wouldnt be worrying about the sagging dollar.

I think the US should strengthen the dollar by putting fair taxes on imports :thumbsup

Iron Fist 07-23-2007 07:41 PM

Just cashed a cheque for 46 bucks today, and got 47 bucks. WOW.

Pretty soon cashing a cheque is going to be worth less than the face value, wierd.

Well, its a little more involved than that. but in a nutshell (if thats even possible), the US economy is going into the toilet for alot of reasons. The housing market bubble is bursting, too many people have mortages that they are defaulting on, the spending on a war no one approves of anymore, a president with one of the lowest approval ratings in history, and other issues that is causing your dollar to crash through the floor.

You are forgetting a few things, the Hill has a lower approval rating than bush, after all they are the ones that make the laws.

The spending on illegal immigrants and work visas ($35,000 a year per person) that tops the spending on the war. The war we can pull out of, illegals living here is a little harder.

I am just pointing out that tech stocks put us on the downfall long ago, then all this shit just kept dragging us down.

But I agree with you totally.

Basic_man 07-23-2007 08:05 PM

That's one ridiculous rate! :(
