Scottrade

And I hop in and out of CNXT all the time, really low right now if you want to buy and hold under a buck (usually around 1.80) dont bash shit until you see its volume, very heavily traded stock, have fun

Try TDAmeritrade. I have used them since they were Ameritrade with little problems and low fees. But if you are going to invest a lot of money, go for ETrade.

You may find some more information over at theStreet.

good luck now would be the time to work something out

My advice is to learn to invest and not "trade".

Required reading:

Every single shareholder letter here: http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/letters.html

Every SEC report you cna possibly stomach reading (go back 5 years at least). You'll learn about what influences have what effects on what businesses.

Every book on economics and stock market history you can possibly read.

Marty Whitman's letters are pretty good too.

You can learn a lot about how to evaluate oil companies at mcdep.com .. This isn't "hopping" in or out. This is holding on until the price reaches close to the valuation.

VISA "V" got in at $75 about 10 days ago it at $88 today, this will $100 by the mid of the summer and a huge long term hold, check out mastercard (they went public 2 years ago at $50, and it's like $300 today)

P.S. BUY AND HOLD...

Selling with dump the money back into your scottrade account or you can always request a "payout"

marketsmart 05-06-2008 11:20 AM

yahoo was a good buy yesterday when it dropped 15%.. i dont know what it is today, but i expect MS to come back to the table in a month or two.. maybe sooner...

fluffygrrl 05-06-2008 11:20 AM

I like optionxpress.

Been making decent dough shorting financials, give it a spin.

ztik 05-06-2008 11:25 AM

I'm in with V at $58

aapl is still going up same with V. Had close to a 50% return on both so far.

Next pick is CFX, their IPO is coming out thursday (the 8th)

Call Merrill Lynch if you want to get in on it. Bunch of big guys are in (buffet)

This will most likely pump the price way up, even before it goes public.

I'll bump this thread in 2 months, watch where CFX is :)

What have you been shorting? I've been buying a lot of WFC lately.

Try Zecco.com . if your account is over $2500 trades are free.

Watch BABY . Pulling back to the 20 day moving average. Buy some shares at $19.75 . If it pulls back below 18 double your position. :)

OG LennyT 05-06-2008 12:45 PM

Watch Cramer on CNBC - his show 'Mad Money' is amazing. You will learn much about the stocks game and he is pretty fucking entertaining as well :)

Anyway, my stock tip is stick with the Ag sector. As long the US has this crazy obsession with Ethanol, world hunger and food supply/demand is creating crazy growth on stock like IPI, DE, POT to name a few.

Steel is also a great play check out X

Just don't listen to him about buying stocks. Seams like he is wrong about 70% of the time

He's made me lots of money. I don't watch his show just to get stock tips, I watch to get valuable insight into the different market sectors.

100% agree with this.. He is a smart man, but don't take his pics, just the info.

BABY went from $19.67 to $21.40 .

That is an 8% rise in a day. Stay with it. probably bail at $22.00

Jens Van Assterdam 05-24-2008 12:35 PM

Dont look at it like its only poker for big guys. E-trading will make you a lot of fast money but it will take it from you even faster. You should really know what your doing :2 cents:

geeknik 05-24-2008 04:09 PM

Solar stocks are pretty hot right now, but they've pulled back here lately, so it's a good time to buy. Take a look at these:

FSLR, CSUN, RSOL, SPWR, SOL, SOLF

:thumbsup

Jim Cramer = complete dunce

If you follow anything he says, you are sure to lose!

I know of a stock which is sure to double in the next 5 months.

If I had more money . . . . . I would put it in!

Gooood luck with your 12% losers!

Defiance Inc 05-24-2008 05:07 PM

"..how do you get paid out ...check? debit load?"

Its been a while since I traded. But with Ameritrade they gave you an option of wire transfer, or check. If you invest in a corp. that pays dividends they usually send a check..
Don't forget taxes.. There are short and long term capital gains for trading, see
IRS publication p550 (sorry can't post the link). And keep track of your trades, you'll
have to list all the buy/sell dates etc. on your tax forms.
My tips would be make sure to buy enough of the stock. Don't just buy 10 shares, you won't make any money. And yes, I've seen this done... a lot!
KNOW what your doing when shorting! If you MUST do it, try a stop loss order to limit your liability. Or you will lose a lot, if not everything. "He who sells what isn't his'n, must buy it back or go to pris'n" Drew.

Okay, Baby hit $22.00 today. Nice clip. Hope you got in. :thumbsup

MakingItPay 06-02-2008 10:20 AM

Called Baby at $19.67 dumped at $22.00. Looks like a little over 11% in less than a month. Sure wish everyone I called did that. :winkwink:
