Some pics to share

I thought I'd share my morning walk with you.

Check it out...

This is the river bank about 150 yards from my house...about 5:30 am a few weeks ago,
at the start of my walk. This is the Winnipeg I know...

The next 3 were taken while walking over the main street bridge...
(same geese, it's like they were trying to follow me)

This is the hospital I used to work at, a little blurry for some reason, sorry...

http://members.shaw.ca/cyberdogs/graphx/Image009.jpg

This was taken while I was on the riverwalk, across the river from where my house is.
Mamma duck and her gaggle of little ones, I had to take a shot of them...

After crossing that weird footbridge with the big funny-looking spike, while heading towards home I
took these shots of downtown...

Took a ride on my mountain bike Yesterday evening (June 22nd, 08)

This is the Forks Market, taken from the old train bridge (now a foot bridge)

http://members.shaw.ca/cyberdogs/pics/bike01.jpg

The spire thing is part of the provencher walking bridge

http://members.shaw.ca/cyberdogs/pics/bike03.jpg

Same pic, no zoom...

These were taken from the opposite side of the river (better view of the bridge)
You can see how high the river is right now, as it almost completely covers the quay down in front.
(see last pic of the first set for how low the river was a few weeks ago)

Great photos. But when you get those little geese fucks following you, keep an eye on you keys and such. They are sneaky.

Generally no, but it does depend on where in Canada you're moving to. BC for example, has a vastly different climate than Winnipeg does, at least as far as our winters go.

I know several former Winnipeggers who moved there. They tell me it's a really nice city as well.

I've never been, but would one day like to.

NoOOooo... Winnipeg Sucks ass, as most people who have never been here will tell you. :D

Yes, it's actually pretty great, at least I think so.

It's actually in 3 spans, two of which are east and west bound traffic (two lanes + a bike lane each), and that foot bridge. The thing you see below the spike in the center is actually a restaurant and lounge. Obviously it has a beautiful view of the river.

The bridge itself: we used to have a gay mayor several years ago named Glenn Murray. He was actually a very good mayor as far as mayors go, and one of the legacies he left us with is that walking bridge alongside the new Provencher bridge you see in those pics. People renamed it "The phallic bridge"... and it spawned a lot of gay jokes at former mayor Murray's expense. But it kind of grows on you and over time I've come to like it, but people still call it the phallic bridge to this day. ha ha

GetSCORECash 06-23-2008 06:53 PM

People near me who go for early morning walks get hit by cars :( Living near 2 intersecting 4 lane roads tends to be bad news for pedestrians!

Your area looks nice, CD. Nice pics!

Surprisingly, once in a while someone gets hit by a car here too.

Probably not as much as where you live though.
