When last did you send or recieve a handwritten letter?

Even my old-fashioned stepmother has made the transition to email - do people actually write letters anymore?

tranza 09-23-2008 05:22 AM

Well, I cannot even remember if I had done that someday...

Barefootsies 09-23-2008 05:23 AM

A few weeks, maybe a month, back now. I wrote my Congressman.
:2 cents:

Fletch XXX 09-23-2008 05:24 AM

i still write on paper.

shit i draw web sites on paper sometimes before actually doing them on computer...

After Shock Media 09-23-2008 05:46 AM

I send out thank you letters that are hand written all of the time. Email I feel is just not personal enough or shows that you care as much about what you are writting about.

Madame0120 09-23-2008 06:08 AM

Even though my handwriting has gone to shit, I still send out handwritten thank you notes.

I love that I get a sweet note from our Miss Di on pretty stationary, every week or so, just to say hello.Sure we could just pick up the phone, but there's something special about putting pen to paper - spelling errors and all.

Has he replied yet?

Spunky 09-23-2008 06:15 AM

It's been so long I can't remember

Antonio 09-23-2008 06:16 AM

about 12 years ago, my handwriting is so bad now that it takes me forever to fill in the deopist slips at the bank since I have to spend like a minute to write each word or they'll never be able to guess what my name or address is

You almost always will get a reply from them or at least the staff. They also seem to take it more seriously if it is hand written, same goes for companies. I think they think if you took the time to actually hand write something you must of had a compelling reason. Specially when it is so easy to type and press send.

Me too. I send cards and letters pretty frequently, as it's an art form I don't soon want to give up.

fuzebox 09-23-2008 06:50 AM

I can't even write a grocery list.

Ross 09-23-2008 06:53 AM

I got a thank you card in the mail today from my friends sister for buying her new baby a gift. I honestly couldn't say the last time I wrote a letter to someone. I'm only 25 but it must have been when I was at school.

hdkiller 09-23-2008 06:55 AM

never :D

L-Pink 09-23-2008 06:58 AM

My mother who lives 10 miles from me, talks with me almost everyday on the phone and sees me 2-4 times a week still sends a brief letter/note about once a month. (bless her heart)

Zorgman 09-23-2008 07:01 AM

I've got an uncle I write to in the UK, he doesn't like computers. He has no need for them.

Received letters, and follow up letter from both my Senator, and Representative within a week.

Pleasurepays 09-23-2008 07:24 AM

in the last 5 years or so, i've noticed that what used to be very nice handwriting that i had, has become completely illegible.... from a complete and total lack of writing on paper

cherrylula 09-23-2008 07:41 AM

no but I write notes and to do lists to myself all day and every day... it helps with the carpal tunnel too I have found.

I'll never give up my handwriting!

J. Falcon 09-23-2008 08:05 AM

At least 10 years ago.

woj 09-23-2008 08:06 AM

I'm not sure I ever wrote one :(

Why 09-23-2008 08:07 AM

my mom writes me letters at least once a month, usually about nothing... she knows i like mail that doesnt ask me for money and i live 6,000 miles away from her.

Babaganoosh 09-23-2008 08:34 AM

My grandma is still alive so I get letters from time to time. Maybe I'll write her back today. I really should do that more.

Damn I wish she'd get an email address.

Marky333 09-23-2008 08:36 AM

My last sent handwritten letter was 10 years ago. Why to bother when there are E-mails and SMS?

Creeper 09-23-2008 09:16 AM

Perhaps a 3 years ago.. but I am gonna write one up this month and hopefully I'll get another one like I did 3 years ago. It's nice to get em :).

TubeTitans_SusieQ 09-23-2008 09:20 AM

I last mailed a letter in 2001, to my grandmother before she passed away, havent to anyone since, except for holiday cards

Trixie 09-23-2008 09:30 AM

I got one recently from someone in prison. It was a sweet missive telling me he'd derived pleasure from seeing my photos in a magazine. Those weren't his exact words, though.

Peaches 09-23-2008 09:32 AM

Last week - though most of it was typed. It was from my mother's 82 year old boyfriend so I have to give him some slack for not writing everything out. ;) He sent me $100 (I have no idea why.....) so I'll be sending him a handwritten letter thanking him :)

I get a lot of handwritten thank you notes and send out several myself.

Scott McD 09-23-2008 09:35 AM

Hmmm, a few months maybe ??

My handwriting fucking sucks now. I hate even having to write out a Birthday card... :Oh crap

Wow my handwriting has gotten terrible over the years. I haven't written this poorly since I was a kid.

Damn pen and paper seem archaic to me. :1orglaugh
