How much is your weekly grocery bill?

It might be interesting to see how things vary around the world.

How much on average do you spend and for how many people?

Ours is generally about £60 ($120-ish) for two people and two dogs. It depends on what I already have in the freezer. I cook most things from scratch and probably over buy spices and that sort of thing which put the bill up but I don't like not having something like that if I need it.

Brujah 10-14-2008 03:47 AM

About $250+/wk I'll estimate. Eating out almost every meal.

Stellar 10-14-2008 03:52 AM

Sarah,

you seem very nice.

Did you bring any of your affiliates over from your former employer to MaxCash?

Just curious, you don't have to answer.

Please tell JMoney that I didn't duck out on him, just waiting to hear back from someone that I had already spoken to about the project.

He is one of the more upfront/honest guys in the business, hate to have him think I was ducking him.

I spend about 100-150 dollars a week for one person :)

StuartD 10-14-2008 03:58 AM

Well, all of the food I get is gluten free, for my boy... so my grocery bill tends to be much higher than almost all my other bills. :(

After Shock Media 10-14-2008 04:02 AM

2 people, dog, cat.
Roughly $60.00 a week.

Though it can spike on occasion when I run out of some staples or need to place refill certain spices or specialized items.

Dennis Rodman 10-14-2008 04:07 AM

$2,500/week

hmmm. not sure. i'll have to ask the household staff

Barefootsies 10-14-2008 04:14 AM

$180.00 without fail.

But it's more like a 10 day, versus week, grocery bill.

:2 cents:

Jensen 10-14-2008 04:21 AM

My former employer was Webinc which is a paysite design company so there weren't any affiliates to bring over. I do deal with some people that are affiliates with Max Cash now that I did work with as design clients then too but I wouldn't say I brought them over but more that they knew me from back then and joined.

I actually know the brunette and took her out for drinks when she was in London a few years back. Nice and very popular lady.

james_clickmemedia 10-14-2008 05:26 AM

I don't do the food shopping however I believe around $175 a week for 2 adults and 3 children. However we also eat takeout 2-3 meals a week which is another $50-$60

THat sounds low for the UK.. I am guessing you are not shopping at marks and spencers.. I could never afford to shop there myself when I lived in England.

nikad 10-14-2008 05:34 AM

120usd 2 adults 1 teenager 1 dog

cherrylula 10-14-2008 05:45 AM

depends on what store I go to when I shop. We are limited down here, no Trader Joes either.

but on average at least $100 in groceries and maybe half that in fast food if we do chinese or something.

I can't stand to waste food, and I try not to waste leftovers. But I love to cook. It just takes so much time from work if I cook like 2 scratch vegetarian meals a day. I should just pay myself, haha.

I think it is because I cook from scratch the majority of time time. If I was buying ready meals or a ton of jarred sauces it would be much higher. A lot is also smart buying and stocking up on something I use often when it is on buy one get one free and that sort of thing. I also don't buy a lot of meat because of my diet being mainly veggie these days. If you want to spend less here you can you just have to actually look at what you are putting into your cart.

No Trader Joe's in the UK either. I have never been to one but it sounds like a place I could really spend some cash in if I did have one around.

Cyndalie 10-14-2008 05:57 AM

For 3 people (2 adults and a baby) and 2 cats, after coupons and discount card and sales, about $150 a week.

Spunky 10-14-2008 06:10 AM

IllTestYourGirls 10-14-2008 06:31 AM

around $75 for 2 adults one kid.

LauraLee 10-14-2008 06:43 AM

I live alone, however I cook daily and have dinner visitors almost daily.
I spend atleast 200 a week, but that includes higher end meats and all fresh vegetables, which definitely run up the overall cost.
I will also admit, that doesn't include a really nice dinner out approx 1 time a week.

I am a foodie and I adore sharing with my loved ones.

fallenmuffin 10-14-2008 06:47 AM

roughly $75/week

SexualDragon 10-14-2008 06:50 AM

~150cdn/wk

Scott McD 10-14-2008 06:53 AM

Anything from £60 to £80 per week...

Sosa 10-14-2008 06:55 AM

We have been trying to stay under $75/week for two of us and a dog. Just depends how much we end up eating out.

bloggingseo 10-14-2008 07:15 AM

Around 150-170 a week for a family

Ross 10-14-2008 08:38 AM

We don't do our shopping every week. Monthly tho for myself my girlfriend and my dog we're around £250 a month give or take a few pounds. We also have take away about 1-2 times a week which is another £50 a month.

the alchemist 10-14-2008 08:41 AM

Around 140-150cad$/week for two people.

WarChild 10-14-2008 09:15 AM

If I had to break it down weekly, then I'd say around $150 for me which includes protein powders and $125 for the 3 dogs.

LeRoy 10-14-2008 09:16 AM

About 100.00 per week 2 peeps and 1 kid :)

w/o beer

Sausage 10-14-2008 09:16 AM

$160 a week.... now

Though we were spending around $800 a week 5 months ago due to alcohol, and not giving a shit about the price of veges and meat. Since we gave a shit its fallen significantly. I am ashamed of the waste we had before :(

oceania 10-14-2008 09:20 AM

2adults 1 teenager 1 college kid and 2 dogs
about $250 week

Doctor Dre 10-14-2008 09:20 AM

About 100/150 a week, for 1 person with guests once in a while.

BradM 10-14-2008 09:25 AM

I never liked cooking because I didn't have the tools.
For the last 4 years I have spent $1,500 a month without fail on food. Eating out 2-3 times a day etc.

I finally cracked down and the last 2 months I've spend 125 a week on average. Though the bill will go down next month because I stockpiled meat on sale, and from costco + pasta. So in reality it will probably work out to around $80-100

Tom_PM 10-14-2008 09:26 AM

If I spent $100 every two weeks it's because I LOADED down the cart and bought soda and beer, which is not too often. So I dunno, $50 maybe per week for myself.

Monique Niccole 10-14-2008 09:30 AM

about $160 for 2 people at the supermarket plus about $20 at the farmer's market where I buy most of my fruits and vegetables.

mrwilson 10-14-2008 09:31 AM

About 60-70$ give or take a few $

Sid70 10-14-2008 09:32 AM

grocery? well, we mostly shop at supermarket and malls, let it be grocery LOL, for 4 people family it cums to about $200 a week.

PlugRush Sascha 10-14-2008 09:32 AM

2 adults + 1 child + 2 cats + 2 birds

I'm sure we spend $300+ a week. I usually eat meat at least once a day (usually more like 2-4 times) and I don't like to eat crap, so it costs more.

That doesn't include going out to eat, which I don't like to do often.

CS-Jay 10-14-2008 09:54 AM

My girlfriend buys, so I have no clue on what she spends.
