Buying up alternate domains worthwhile?
 

For those of you who buy a domain with the intention of branding it, do you also buy up the alternative domains with the same name (ie: .net, .org) to fend off would be moochers/copiers? Was thinking of doing this, but am I just wasting my time being too paranoid??

If you know you are going to brand it, you are no doubt throwing money at it, so by all means, pick up the others... also the hyphenated derivatives if applicable.

I've done it, but it's really the content that matters. Your surfers will know the difference between you and the copy-cats... I don't really pay them much attention. I own TwinkCasting.com and some dip-fuck bought TwinksCasting.com and turned it into a paysite shortly thereafter... it irked me at first, but now I really can care less... my content rocks and his sucks my cock. :2 cents:

if its going to be big, its probably worth the extra 30 bucks or so to buy a few up.
