holding up traffic to let 1 car in- yes or no?
 

i don't understand the idea behind stopping and keeping all the cars behind you from going just to let one car in.

just keep going so more people can keep going, then the car entering into the street can go.

why sacrifice many for one?

the only time i find this acceptable is if the 1 car you are letting in is in a bind or accidentally positioned itself dangerously. Thats the only case ill keep clear and let someone in.

Aside from that, I dont think theres ANY reason to hold up traffic to let 1 guy in.

Because the law states you are to allow incoming traffic the right to move in from off street sections including parking lots.:321GFY

I was the victim of said problem this morning in the city! Chick was holding up two lanes of traffic, almost got nailed by a semi, and pissed me off all in one fell swoop! Just to get a metered parking space... MORON!! :2 cents:

what law is that? also, the way you state it- "to allow" doesn't make it a requirement or the proper thing to do or even answer the question.

I do this pretty often if there is a long line of traffic behind me and the ones ahead of me are moving slow..... I do it because it's done for me alot when I am the one waiting and some kind soul lets me go. THAT is why you are kind toothers, because one day YOU may be stuck on a side road and have to wait a very long time to get out and get yourself moving. lol

holding up traffic is stupid but so is blocking the intersection when the light ahead is red

i.e. the driver entering traffic yields to traffic to enter the road, not the other way around.

but that is my point, you are being kind to one while being rude to many others.

If I see the person waiting and waiting I will be nice and let them in. Unless I am in a hurry and then fuck um they can wait.

i have no problem waiting for my turn to go. just like getting in any line, you get in line at the end of the line- period.

My :2 cents: It's ok to stop if there is a stop light ahead of you that has turned red... so that the cars that are behind you will have to be stopping anyways. But if you bring traffic to a stop then you are probably going to cause an accident.
