I am looking for a new laptop. [suggestions please]

Thurbs suggested i get a mac, so i ordered one off ebay & it showed up not-working, so I'm doing a charge-back thing with paypal. In the mean time, since i have no luck with Mac's obviously I'm looking for another PC.

I'm looking for at least a dual core, & a 17" screen.

Post away with suggestions of both models, & storefronts to find good deals on them.

Thanks!

Now I'm back off to the dreaded dentist.

Go to dell and order one there, I had a state of the art dell laptop before and it was just awesome. Support is good as well. Dont be scared by their mega corporation status they know their thing and take care of customers.

I found a good deal on my macbook through amazon. Bought it when they had a rebate going on as well that saved $150.

do macs still have no right click?
i wanted to get macbook pro because i looks nice but i dunno how id adapt to it

Get a Mac book directly from the store. Depending on what you are doing a MAC BOOK is going to be a laptop that works at 100% for at least 3 years. If you need something faster and bigger just go for the MacBook Pro. Just make sure to get Applecare, ti makes a world of difference when something goes wrong.

Never buy a MAC used is my other advice. Most people who are selling used ones either damaged them or dont know what they are doing and ruined the HD in some freakish way.

I have a Dell Vostro Has a 10key pad on the right side. Its a little tough to get used to but really nice ones you do.

17Inch screen with Vista Office. Has some features that the others done.

This thing can actually be used for media presentation without booting vista up.

Sager or Asus.

I love my Asus... more bang for the buck. That, and I don't do work at Starbucks so I guess the label on my computer doesn't matter to me; just that it works, and works very well for the price and configurable options.

I enjoyed my Toshiba Satellite, but this Dell is nicer. The 128 GB solid state drive rocks.

well, to my personal experience, i had a close buddy that ordered a mac, it was one of those -fantastic ones, and the first one that arrived had issues, then he had a second one and then a third one - maybe it was the new series though - anyway i would say that it's a bit hard to suggest one model straight away since there are a million kinds... i would say instead, see what are your priorities i.e. cpu power, big display, weight, battery lifetime and take it from there....and do not forget the keyboard....for example, i have an old dell inspiron 510m which is rock solid (survived lots of trips) and its OK, not the best machine in the world, but battery lasts after 5 years like the first day, monitor is OK but keyboard is crap....

yeah, get hp, they have all the ports you might not even realize you need some day, and the price is right

but be very very careful of any laptop you buy not to get the ones with the new keyboard idea where the shift keys are square and small so that they could fit the arrow keys into the keyboard rectangle... I have one of those on my other laptop and it cuts my typing speed in half :2 cents:

Did they manage to get the glare acceptable on the screens or are you sitting in front of a mirror the whole time ?
The current MacBook Pro 17 is still available with non glare screen, but the upcoming update for the 17 inch model might lose that option.
