Good ways to get affiliates
 

Have a brand new site and looking for affiliates to join the program.

Any recommendations or advice?

Hit the boards hard, become friends with webmasters, keep your ear to the ground for anyone looking to promote your niche and be ready to contact them with tools.

Build it and they will come.

Getting *good* affiliates is a full time job and requires much time and dedication. Although there are many ways the pros go about it, some of their techniques are as simple as using Google to look up sites with relevant content to the affiliate program and contacting each website owner on a one on one basis to discuss the potential partnership.

There is also the method of posting helpful messages (answer questions) on webmaster message boards and having your affiliate program advertised in your signature. That's obviously a very common method used around here at GFY. Just be careful to not be a board whore. If you are going to use this method actually post informative and helpful messages. Spamming the board just to get your signature seen is a quick way to not get affiliates.

There is also the paid advertising method. Basically you pay sites like GFY a monthly fee to display your banners. This also gives you the right to pinned threads and contests and what not.

And last but not least there is the tried and true method of hiring someone to do all this for you but of course that will cost you. The affiliate managers will cost you anywhere from $2,000 a month (plus bonuses) to as much as $100,000 a year (plus hefty cash bonuses based on performance). Obviously the more experience an affiliate manager has, the more money you would pay him.

Currently, people are doing offering "bonus" weeks / days / etc. to webmasters...Send 5 joins to www.xxx.com and get $50 PPS. Problem with that is the cost to the program...

As previously mentioned, start getting invovled in the webmaster community, make friends, and look for ways that your sites can help them out...

I think I will release a strip poker game available to use on other sites. Something new webmasters can use on their own site and keep their surfer's entertained for a little. I'll post it next week and anyone is welcome to add the game to their site.

Surfers LOVE that kind of stuff...And what's good for you is that it's viral. Like, "Hey man, check out what I found, he he." Viral marketing, when your product/message "spreads like a virus", is a GREAT, cheap way to get yourself out there.

As an affiliate you are pampered these days. So you need to know how to pamper an affiliate. First of all build a good affiliate site like LatinTeenCash. Another thing is to have websites that promote original websites niches and unique promo content. Free adult games like strip poker can be a way to do that. Another thing is the good old Email. People love sponsors that weekly mail their affiliates with updates of promo content. Another great thing is to offer promo content specially for the blogs.
