what happened with james hetfields voice/singing?

so i got the new metallica album on and his vocals dont sound hungry and agressive anymore like it was before (way he sounded was one of the reasons why i liked them)... his vocals how it sounds on here actually screws up the whole album because the music is not that bad... it kinda sucks.

metallica died after master of puppets, you never heard?

StuartD 10-21-2008 01:10 PM

He took singing lessons.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-21-2008 01:13 PM

Why ask. Metallica is ruined forever.

I've always said the same, but, I really dig their new album!

NaughtyVisions 10-21-2008 01:35 PM

I think it's really just a matter of getting older. Since the new album came out, my son's been listening to it virtually non-stop. I'm getting him to listen to the older albums, so he gets to hear what the Metallica I knew was like. Listen to the albums straight through in order of release. On "Kill 'Em All," Hetfield's voice was very high pitched and almost whiny. It slowly got deeper and more agressive sounding over the years.

tony286 10-21-2008 01:37 PM

its because he is rich now.

CaptainHowdy 10-21-2008 02:30 PM

He just sobered up ...

Dwreck 10-21-2008 02:32 PM

give the album a chance

The album is a step in the right direction compared to the crap they've been releasing since And Justice For All (the "black album" had it's moments but was sign of bad things to come).

Have you noticed the similarities between the song Master of Puppets and End of the Line? The structure is practically identical. The second part of the intro riff (right before the vocals) is like a hop, skipity, jump version of Master's intro riff (one of the best riffs ever) and the music in the main verses is like a dumbed down version of Master?

I do agree, I wish the vocals were a bit angrier. Guess being rich he doesn't have much to mad about anymore!

its mixed to sound best on video games

His suckiness extends beyond his latest musical offerings

That's how you sound when you're pretending to be an angry rocker. The whole album smacks of a bunch of old timers trying relive something that has long passed. It's not a bad album, it just doesn't feel authentic.

Nicky 10-21-2008 03:33 PM

They can never be as good as the first 4 albums again but I really like the Unforgiven 3 solo though

SykkBoy 10-21-2008 06:00 PM

I'm liking the new album more and more with each listen, even Suicide & Redemption, the rambling instrumental I hated at first...

chuvii 10-21-2008 06:04 PM

from teens to mature - you know the difference at these niches :)

Mr Pheer 10-21-2008 06:32 PM

The solution to this is simple:

The next time you find a new band that you really like, dont buy their albums or go to their concerts. This way, they never get rich or mellow out a bit. Of course they probably wont get any more record deals since nobody bought thier shit the first time or went to their concerts, but hey its not about that kind of shit at all now is it?

Their new album pretty much sucks, from Hetfields voice to the drums sounding like shit, and overall the production blows.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-21-2008 07:54 PM

The truth is...

The whole band went to therapy.

Nuff said.

Maybe a positive outcome of the global economical crisis will be a better Metallica :)!

aico 10-21-2008 08:31 PM

They should change their name to Buttlica, cuz they suck ass.

tranza 10-22-2008 11:07 AM

I still enjoy it, but i have to agree it's not the same thing anymore!
