Sunday is my 12 year Net Birthday. When is yours?
 

I registered my first domain "prehensile.com" 12 years ago this Sunday. When I think of all the great names that were available when I grabbed PREHENSILE, I want to staple my hand to my forehead. Doh!

I still have the domain, though I don't update it any more. It was a weekly humor site. I even made tons of porn jokes looong before I did any porn work. Kinda funny to see me make jokes about directing porn movies or being a stunt cock back when that was a ludicrous idea to me.

The site got me sued by Fruit of the Loom, featured in Wired, acquainted with all sorts of early web personalities, and got me on the web conference speaking circuit for a while. Good times. :)

When was YOUR first domain registration?

12 years sounds about right, too bad i spent my time on chasing adultcheck passwords instead of doing something useful like registering domains - lol

Really have no idea the exact date I started. I could probably come up with a month if I had to. But yeah, if I had the foresight I could own some great names today.

Since 1994 so i am coming up 15 years here in 2009 :-)

12 years for me also.... 1996 I had my first free site up.

Nov 1997 I started doing biz online.

Registered a few back in 1999.

I believe my first website was in 99 or 00.

Yeaaaah! Lots of us were kicking it old skool!

January 2009 will be our 10 year anniversary. I started when I was 19 and in college. Good times :D

In 1992 I was working for a company in Oslo, Norway that designed and set up network solutions for companies internal networks. At the office we experimented with this new thing where we could "talk over the net" from office to office but via other servers "out there" - Of course later we realized that it was the internet. It worked. We talked to each other via ancient microphones and speakers over the internet. Fun times.

Guess that makes it 16 years on the internet for me. :)

I've been BBS'ing and usenet'ing since 1983 and jumped over to the internet via CompuServe's "ppp" offering in 1994. Sadly I can only find a handful of usenet articles I've posted from the 1980s in the Google Groups database.

My first domain turns 11 just after new years.

I "became aware" in 1996 so it makes it 12 full years for me. I wonder if the 13th year will kill me

yep definitely wish I had registered more domains too!

I have no idea exact date, but it would be in 97, or late 96 possibly.

My other regret is that I worked for a net company and wasn't really doing my own sites yet, but I did learn things as an employee that help me today.
