The number of strippers and strip clubs in Toronto is shrinking. Many dancers are blaming the Internet for putting them out of work.

A 23-year-old ex-dancer named Madeline told the Toronto Star newspaper that she used to make $1,000 per night in clubs four years ago but gave it up for a job as a bartender when the number of men that would pay $20 for a lap dance decreased enough to force her to take off her fuck shoes and quit.

?Why would a guy go to a club and pay to sit there if he could get it all for free on his computer at home?? she complained. As many as 10 Toronto strip clubs have closed in the last five years, and the number of licensed burlesque dancers has decreased by more than 50% from 2,834 in 1998 to 1,254 in 2007. At press time, there was no info from the Canadian government about sending in strippers from their reserves to offset these losses.

I used to live in that neighborhood, and have to agree! At least 4 of them within crawling distance from my house.

A dancer did give me a hazzle for wearing a porn tshirt in a club one time, and said basically the same thing as the article.

lol@ shemp - yup stripper bailout, i'm from Toronto. Canada was once mighty with our commidities: crude oil, lumber and strippers. with the recession the Canadian dollar drops because oil is cheaper, no one is building homes and when you're tight on cash a stripper is the last thing on your mind.

The worse thing that happened was when they got rid of the 1 and 2 dollar bills up here. so unless they'll dance for loonies and toonies and carry a change purse that may fix their problem. Not sure if any stripper is worth a $5 bill, maybe if they came with a hot sandwich and a bag of chips.

This means everybody experience the crisis.
