How can I setup VPN on my server (So I can browse the internet through it from home)
 

Being in the UK sucks. There are so many sites that are blocked or restricted here (like hulu.com). I have a server that is in the USA. Anyone know how I can setup VPN on it so I can connect through it and access these sites with a USA ip?

I tried setting up a socks/http/https proxy on my server and that kinda works.. the browser will connect through my server however flash will not.

Any ideas?

I've never thought about doing this. Sounds neat! Can you setup a windows server and browse the internet at lightning speeds and download and then re-download from your desktop at home?

yeah, but the lightning speeds when browsing are still restricted by your own connection


you can download super fast though and redownload later at home if you like

I do that often with my windows server, the software is already built in to your windows too: Programs>Accessories>Communication>Remote Desktop Connection

If you are looking at a true VPN connection to your webserver, you will run in to a serious security issue, since (depending on your server and number of IP's) will need to use Split tunneling

And you really dont want that on a webserver

Check out the zenune (or something) web proxy. Its supposed to work with FLVs, flash and anything out there.

Just go with someone like StrongVPN.com... it's only $15 a month.
