I started in 1997 and know that other started in 1996 from what I remember

Not sure who were the first ten... but the first 3 were Donald Davies, Paul Baran and Leonard Kleinrock.

Without them there wouldn't be adult internet at all.

Someone should make some sort of book or website with the history of the adult online business.
Since I´m a newbie (started sometime around 2004-5) I´m not familiar with many of those names or the sites they run.
I see Serge mentioned every now and then and I have to admit I don´t know who he is.:helpme

I know Persian Kitty because I have read her story somewhere. I also remember recently reading about some of the bad business that went on in the early days (xpics or something like that).

I would really love to read the story of some of the online porn pioneers like the hun,PK,serge, etc.

I thought they knew a thing or two over there ;)

I remember WebSplash and one other site called Chicken Ranch or something like that from back then.

This would have been when Netscape 1 was in beta and on an annual subscription basis. Yep, you paid for browsers and their updates.

Thats an interesting question. I would like to follow it up with; where are they now?

A book would be cool.. The pioneers of the bizz.. and see where they are now.. Would be very interesting..

I have no idea, but one of them must have uploaded that picture of the dude with a parrot perching on his dick, because I saw a b/w printed version of that at a friend's house when I was in middle school.

We were doing bbs promotions on the General and a few others way back when but truly, our first site was monsveneris.com in 1996 -disaster, ripped off by our outsourced webmasters

I remember ATK was around, Carol Cox, a few others, classics like Busty Amateurs... (but i guess that was more like '97 or so)

We made our transition from our bbs systems to the adult net in 1994 - some basic virtual accounts - lots of biz on usenet, etc :)

Of the first 10, how many of them used stolen content?

IME, 100% unless it was an amateur site using their own content.

Back in 95 or so I would routinely go through 1000's of automatically downloaded BBS content for one of the early major sites (one no one's mentioned yet and I'm not going to be the one that does now :thumbsup ). I had to categorize them and then send them to the guy who put in all the content. Zmaster was the first content seller I can remember and that wasn't until 96ish IIRC.

there were a lot of guys in the late 90s. 98,97 running nonude, babes, celebrity and bikini sites on geocities. Including me.. lol! I always wonder what happened to bomis.com lol i was listed there with 4 sites and the traffic coming from there was awesome.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bomis

Well i remember back when i started an Audiotext Service Bureau back in 1999, inventing the voice personals...some guys in the inudustry now ( not mention any names here ) used to be my sales guys....and i also remember working with Ron Levi, Seth W. and other pioneers...then in 1993-1994 , i got into this thing called the Internet ;-) ....

We probably know some of the same people - I was in audiotext 1992-96. Actually I guess even before then if you include when I was working for MCI and an ATT reseller and 900 guys were some of our customers.

Bringing up audiotext and you have to mention Rich Botto.

We go back to 1995 for hosting and our own sites in 1996. If I remember right, it was a $100 per domain to register with internic.
