What's the best server based stats program for tracking hundreds of sites?

I've got a couple hundred sites on a couple of different servers. I'd like a good stats program for tracking the sites themselves and for groups that I create so I can track different networks of sites.

I've been doing this in google analytics, but I don't like google any more in my shite than they already are.

Anybody have some good suggestions? :thumbsup

Maybe there's more people on the board today?

I use this on some of my mainstream sites

Personally I use Google Analytics but I might start moving to something else soon. Don't want google to know everything about my sites.

What was Analytics called before Google bought it? You used to be able to buy it and host it yourself..

seriously can it hurt using googles tracking?

statcounter?

server side stats are always best. They all read the logs differently
and arguably more accurate by price.

free: awstats
mid-range price: urchin - acquired by google
high-end: webtrends

Yes and No.

- When you use 3rd party, off server stats (anything with inclusion code requirements) - its less accurate foremost, and your sharing your private site details with a server you do not control.

- If your nobody ... No its not gonna hurt. But do you think Microsoft would use Google Analytics? Even knowing the products from Google are arguably better. My guess is hell no. wonder why.

Google has a not so public product they are said to be working on. It allows a user to upload their medical records and can be accessed by that person and their doctor(s) only. Google is a great company, so i will assume their security practices are top-notch. Would you do that?

Scaled down form of the product Urchin.

Urchin is now owned and advanced in development by Google from my understanding.
Urchin (or whatever name Google has/will change it to) can be installed on a localhost (your server) - its licensed to you for use over X duration (with updates).

any other ideas out there?

KillerK 01-01-2009 11:36 PM

There is an open source one that I can't remember the name, but I remember someone posting about it a while ago.

Might find it on sourceforge?

AFAIK there is no such (good) program or I would have been using it myself. I pull the rawlogs from all my sites and then process/manage them on a central server.

I checked out a few of these, but none of them seem to have easy license programs for unlimited domains? I've got like 500 sites on the server for this to track, it can't be processor intensive and has to have an unlimited domains and either an unlimited or a reasonable multiple server license.
