Video codecs - What is used the most?

What video codecs are most widely used these days? What do you encode in?

What is primarily out there right now (old / new content)?

ummmmmmmmmmmm

DutchTeenCash 12-24-2008 05:41 AM

divx still and HD wmv

Most of our clients now encode in h.264 but some still stick to the old school 3. wmv, 1 mpg and ipod.

h.264 kinda solves the need to use those other formats.

forget WMV,

divx or xvid for the lower res stuff and 264 stuff for the 720p or better. For playback locally I use MKV but for streaming flash does it better than WMV

dready 12-24-2008 10:54 AM

H.264 is going to be the standard, if not already.

Actually no, h.264 plays with flash streaming server using a standard FLV player :)
