Some will call this propaganda. You can choose to believe Israel is targetting civilians. You can choose to believe they are attacking Hamas targets. You can choose to believe that perhaps Hamas may locate and attack from residential areas with lots of civilians, including at times UN schools. Interesting videos to watch either way. Hamas, the elected political party of Palestine, has a military wing that is recognized a terroristic organization by the US, and the European Union.

I hope this doesn't turn into a hate-spewed thread, although it is GFY. However, I do find it interesting how the internet today affects the broadcasting of footage from international events, even violent ones. Let's hope 2009 brings an end to this violence soon.

What Israel is doing is not "answering violence with violence". Clearly this is not a response to the recent increase in those home made rocket attacks. That is just what they tell stupid americans, brits, and canadians so we will keep sending tanks and missiles.

The easiest way to figure this out is that it is what the Bush administration is claiming. But I guess, if some people are still not used to this shorthand (Bush admin statement = opposite of truth), you could do a little reading and combine it with common sense. What they are doing is simply a continuation of the collective punishment the state of Israel has been inflicting on the Palestinians for decades with our support and encouragement. Collective punishment being of course, a war crime.

It is tragic to see this unfolding.

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities, considering theres videos of militants specifically launching attacks from schools. So the question is - who is at fault, the militants for thinking this is an appropriate ground to launch attacks in an attempt to hide behind children, or Israelis for responding. I think we can all agree the blame lies on both sides, but truth be told, the more guilty of the parties would have to be the people who took the first shot. Without that first shot, there is no reaction. It's a direct cause-effect relationship, and it's sad.

Also, I should add.. I think it would be a big jump to say Israelis are purposely targetting children. In fact, they are trying to prove to people otherwise because that is easy propaganda to distribute. It's all a question of your perspective and what pre-conceived notions you have on either party. I don't think Israeli has ever denied this has happened, I think they said the whole time militants choose to hide amongst the civilians and children and are in some ways shielded by the people, and now they are taking the next step and showing evidence of this, as to justify their reaction.
