Who's glad the holidays are officially over?

God damn! It just went on ane on and ON... Thanksgiving, then prep for Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and before anyone can take a breath, it's New Years.

I'm fucking done! Whewwwwww! Jeezus that was a ride.

Back to business PLEASE!

Who scheduled all this so crammed together anyway? Damn pilgrims and Jesus and God knows what else. Enough already!

Ok, done ranting.... movie time Netflix on demand. Any suggestions for the weekend? I'll need distraction while getting this tree down as fast as humanly possible. I usually keep my tree up till March but I'm about to throw it off the porch and into the swamp just to get out of the ordeal.

Whew, ok, done... Anyone else relieved as all hell?

JamesK 01-02-2009 01:38 AM

Fuck yeah, I'm tired of getting wasted.

Time to get some work done.

hypedough 01-02-2009 01:48 AM

I'm tired of all the fucking shoppers everywhere. Finally we can back to business!

the Shemp 01-02-2009 01:50 AM

im tired of the snow, RRRED are you snowed in down there?...

d-null 01-02-2009 01:52 AM

yep, finally, I hate having to worry that the stores and restaurants are going to be closed when I need something

MikeSmoke 01-02-2009 01:57 AM

Absolutely. I HATE DECEMBER. Even going to the supermarket is a nightmare - and just thinking about going to the post office to send out DVDs (half my DVD customers are overseas) gives me the shivers until December 23 or so

So how the hell are you feeling these days???

MindWaste 01-02-2009 02:14 AM

I sure dont miss the snow i live in a trailor and my water was froze and toilot backed up. I can deal with the cold but my amenaties shrink and go rotten.

Bama 01-02-2009 02:15 AM

Damn it RRRed - you were supposed to be decorating for my birthday party!

Blingbaby 01-02-2009 02:19 AM

Agreed, that always lasts too long!

I was completely snowed in for over two solid weeks. Couldn't go anywhere. Thank God I grocery shopped like the day before it snowed. My brother had to come pick me up in his truck for Christmas day and bring me back. That's the only time we left and he had a bitch of a time driving back on all the black ice.

Plus, I slipped in the kitchen and broke my ass... Yes I know, embarassing but true. I spent a week and a half before the snow in bed with 3 cracked vertabre and tailbone. I msgd Charlie about it and he had to call my family while a crew of 8-10 ambulance people came and got me.... bleh it was so embarassing but I didn't mind that so much. The valium were nice. I haven't had meds forever lol...and things can always be MUCH worse.

PersianKitty 01-02-2009 02:21 AM

Bama.. your birthday is in August!

I'm glad the holidays are over. Glad to have shared it with my family. Glad to put 2008 behind us and ready for what 2009 may bring (or I think I'm ready). Glad we had a white Xmas. Glad my grandbaby is such a doll (have to put the gbaby plug in).

Thirteen plus years of PK..who'd of thought when I picked the moniker it would have stuck this long.

I guess instead of saying I'm OG, I can say I'm PK for life or does boneprone have the trademark on 'for life'?

Now.. who's gonna help take this dang tree down and put everything away?

Where are you located again?

I'm "feeling" like I got ran over by a truck but I'm counting my blessings and so grateful for everything I have. My girl and I are still workin it and functioning really good. I'm alot slower and more mellow than I used to be cuz I maintain a constant state of almost like meditation, calm breathing, and it's like looking at the world as I've never seen it before. My chest is pretty much in a constant state of pain and tightness that I gotta mentally control. People think I"m "spacey" now but I am always just relaxed and taking things in with serenity and calmness. Kinda like a great grandma would...

But the holidays were much more difficult than last year. I can't even remember last Christmas except screaming at Walmart....

I miss you Mike... it's been forever and it creeps me out how far back we go... like school and we're aging! Can we graduate yet? lol

i'll be in touch friday, i need to hear about the treatment for a broken ass... ;)

RRRED 01-02-2009 02:44 AM

Haha Bama, PK got you! Happy early birthday though... or late?

Congrats on the grandbaby, PK. That's the best part of the holidays. To spoil the little ones. I can't wait for grandkids but it better be a long ways away. She's not even a teen yet. But people think she is and I scowl at guys who are already checking her out. She's got that "air" like she's much older cuz she's very reserved and wise. I'm gonna have to start packing around pepper spray for anyone who even looks at her.

I know - but if she starts decorating now (with the broke butt and all), she'll be finished decorating the whole house by August!!!

:pimp:pimp

BigBen 01-02-2009 02:56 AM

I did enjoy the holidays, but I'm certainly happy that it's all over for the year. Way too much driving and shopping and this and that and on and on. It'll be nice to get back to work tomorrow... just in time for the weekend. :upsidedow

RRRED 01-02-2009 02:57 AM

Shemp, remember Mrs. Sue Wiggens, the receptiont for Tim Conway done by Carol Burnett? I walk like that... lol... with a heat pack velcrod around my waist. I was fine for a few weeks but messed something up again yesterday cuz I kept forgetting to move careful.

Bama, you gonna cook me some of that grub you were posting about yesterday? I'll get in the car right now! We gotta get together soon. We gotta make shemp come down though cuz I can't get into canada for awhile longer.

I'm in San Diego, been here long enough now that it feels cold in the winter :1orglaugh

Well, it sounds like you're starting to heal --- I'm happy to hear it :) Just try to be as patient as you can while you heal, which I know is easy to say but it sounds like you've also got a great handle on the mental side of things, which is a major plus :) The real dangerous temptation is thinking you're physically ready to go out and tackle the world before you really are --- and winding up back in bed because you pushed too hard is enough to rattle anyone's serenity :winkwink:

(I speak from lots of second-hand experience - Kelly has been in constant and severe pain for years now, so I totally believe you when you say the drugs definitely helped - that's often how she gets through the day, especially with our very lively and active 10-month old accidentally kicking her right in the center of her pain every time they're hanging out.)

As for the holidays, I've been a long-time proponent of a new system for Christmas - sort of like gas rationing. You celebrate Christmas based on the last number of your social security number, so that way the shopping, traffic and hysteria is spread throughout the first ten months of the year, and November and December can be calm and enjoyable :1orglaugh

I miss you too...it's scary to think about how long I've known you and some of the others who all started in the biz around the same time we did. (I never thought I'd be able to say "more than ten years" when people asked how long I've been doing this lol.) Since I was having too much fun in the late 90s and early 00s and didn't work as hard as I probably should have (and didn't move to the dark side like some of the people we both knew/know), and with the market tanking, I'll have to win the lottery to "graduate" so I think it'll be a while, at least for me :1orglaugh

hjnet 01-02-2009 03:54 AM

Yeah, I'm glad that everything is over, if I'd have heard one more Xmas song I'd have gone mad :)

Gary_TLX 01-02-2009 04:27 AM

I liked the holidays, but I'm really glad they're over. All those people shopping, crazy traffic, not being able to get anything done sucks. :)

Violetta 01-02-2009 04:35 AM

I'm glad it's all over!

GetSCORECash 01-02-2009 04:42 AM

Wait! It's not over yet. I still have to buy presents for the three kings celebration. There is the three kings parade on 8 street that I have to go to. My tree should go down by mid month...:( it's awsome to be multicultural. My kid has so many presents I have no idea where to store them at this point.

I'm very glad it's all over! And I don't need to think about all this presents, shopping, postcards and so on.

I am.

Now people just need to get some fucking money, and we can get back toe business.

CDSmith 01-02-2009 10:11 AM

Snowed in, black ice, keeping your tree up until March AND a broken ass? And nearly a dozen ambulance people came to visit? Damn RRRED you live a far more charmed exciting life than I do.

I always said your US thanksgiving was too close to Christmas. You people should move it and have it when we do... in COCKTOBER where it belongs. :D

You and your intentional toepos, uh...typos.

John-ACWM 01-02-2009 10:21 AM

Also glad it's over. Too much agitation!

kowalsky 01-02-2009 10:30 AM

I am happy too!

Tom_PM 01-02-2009 10:35 AM

it's all really just a blur anyway isn't it

spacedog 01-02-2009 10:36 AM

I'm so glad it's over..

Rochard 01-02-2009 10:39 AM

I am, but not for the same reasons. Thanksgiving and Christmas are no big deal really. Thanksgiving is a meal; Christmas is buying some presents and a meal. People who go nuts over Christmas are idiots. We had all of our shopping done before Thanksgiving this year, and that was that.

My problem is the last two weeks before Christmas it's impossible to go shopping for nearly anything. One Saturday I decided to go shopping for a new pair of pants and some socks and I couldn't even get into the parking lot. Fuck that.

CDSmith 01-02-2009 10:40 AM

Best time to do Christmas shopping?

August.

brassmonkey 01-02-2009 10:43 AM

i started working yesterday

Holly 01-02-2009 11:31 AM

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, NY Eve, NY Day, and my birthday all in the span of a week is about all I can take. My aunt's bday is today and we're going out to eat tonight, but after this I'm not celebrating shit for at least another month or two.

He took a chance with Franklin and running the spread, but Burns and Todd seemed like the poster boys for it. I know you're not going to have a losing season in the SEC and keep your job, but they should have given him one more season to turn it around. I'm really disappointed in the way they treated him.

How could you grow up in Tallassee and be for Bama?? :winkwink:

I'm not from Auburn but I got my undergrad degree there. My roommate's sister got into vet school and she and her husband bought this really old farmhouse in Tallassee. We spent A LOT of time there fixing that damn thing up. I'm there all the time for games and visiting my roommate, who still lives in Auburn.

96ukssob 01-02-2009 12:22 PM

For sure. im tired of hearing people use it as an excuse for stuff. clients not being able to pay bills because "they are going to be on vacation" and no one wants to start to do anything until the new year.

Now, its the new year and this is what i heard today from someone I hired to do biz dev... "the new year as just yesterday, im going to start fresh on Monday"

looks like someone is going also be looking for a new job on Monday :1orglaugh

That's easy - I grew up in the era of the Bear!

2 of my niece's go to to Auburn but we haven't disowned them.... yet! Recruiting is going to be tough for Auburn over the next few years but they'll be back on top soon enough. Bama just went through that process and it was slim eatings for quite a few years. If'n I don't know the people you know there, we most likely share some common friends at least. I also own the domain tallassee.com too :) I go down in late July just about every year on the way to the tradeshow in Florida and the years that I skip the show, I 'll spend Thanksgiving with the family.

germ 01-02-2009 02:22 PM

Definitely glad the holidays are over.

Now if winter would just go away, I'd be golden.

WWC 01-02-2009 02:26 PM

Still not over for many until Monday Jan 5 and then there is Internext so people leave to Vegas....this always happens every year, doesnt start until Jan 15 or so.....and then next thing you know Jan is gone...messed up...so i start Jan 2 :-) today! back to work ya'll
