I buy a lot more than I have ever sold on there.

camgirlshide 01-03-2009 07:11 PM

I put some listings up there with some mainstream stuff and I have links back to my mainstream site on it. By the time I pay ebay and paypal fees I make almost no money, but it drives people to the site where I don't have to pay fees for sales (process through google checkout) so I think it's worth it.

germ 01-03-2009 07:16 PM

I've sold a couple of things here and there. Never tried to make a business out of it though.

pornask 01-03-2009 07:19 PM

I sold my old photography equipment and regret it now. I had two medium format Mamiya cameras with a bunch of lenses, all went for a low price, less ebay and paypal fees - should have kept it as collector items instead :(

bad2rich 01-03-2009 07:26 PM

I've sold some old video games and other assorted stuff, like jigsaw puzzles, in the past. I made around 400 bucks alltogether, but it was better than having them take up space in my room collecting dust.

LiveDose 01-03-2009 07:37 PM

I sold a studio lighting rig a few years back. Otherwise I am just a buyer.

st0ned 01-03-2009 07:39 PM

I used to mess around with eBay a bit like 5 years ago, then got tired of dealing with the shipping. When I was managing a Verizon store customers would leave their old cellphones when doing upgrades, since Verizon doesn't give discounts on a phone if you are under contract, people would buy them up like hotcakes on eBay. I was making $100-$300 per USED phone.

mynameisjim 01-03-2009 07:41 PM

I sold a ton of stuff on there back in the day. About 300 listings a day. I was a power seller or whatever they called it back then.

They sold a tool so you could automate everything but it still sucked.

God, I don't miss those days at all....lol.

spacedog 01-03-2009 08:08 PM

used to, now I can't bother wasting my time with it since I can sell same shit on craigslist the same day without all the fucking fees

candyflip 01-03-2009 08:09 PM

I have been buying used video games and consoles on Craigslist and selling them on Ebay for about 18 months now.

Suckerpunch 01-03-2009 08:24 PM

I'm like Barefootsies and buy a helluva lot more than I sell. I have sold mainstream sites and tons of domains on there in the past but hard to make a buck doing it...

collegeboobies 01-03-2009 10:53 PM

Guys if you want to make some extra money on every ebay auction you list let me know.

ICQ is 362306612

eBay doesn't allow you to put links back to your site if you are selling goods on your site as it's taking traffic away from eBay and reduces their fees so it's against the user agreement.
I also know a few people who got banned on eBay for doing this so I am not calling you a liar but you certainly not telling the truth :winkwink:

Ebay will allow links such as "this item is the same specs as the item here: URL"

Azoy? 01-03-2009 11:17 PM

i use to sell a lot on eBay but they kept raising their fees to both eBay listing and closing fees as well as PayPal fees which eventually took so much of my margin that it was not worth it.
also when you contacted them as a seller back then they showed little assistance and cared more about bringing buyers to the site hoping that will bring more sellers.
that was wrong mentality because it was the sellers that actually were paying eBay and I know many who left eBay to sell on other sites making money their because of how eBay treated them.

collegeboobies 01-03-2009 11:17 PM

Depending on what you sell I will give you a few dollars per item. This is not for a link or anything. ICQ me for details 362306612

yes they will but if you have a buy now or some sort of purchase link on that same page, they do not allow it as per the user agreement.

UpstartNYC 01-03-2009 11:28 PM

I am pretty new here. But allow me to contribute.

I do a good amount of selling on ebay to perpetually fund my record addiction. I usually get rid of old video games, comics and bad music. The thing that I have found most annoying about ebay is the current policies that really hurt the seller.

The buyer can pretty much say that he never received it and you have to reimburse them. Which is total bullshit. I had to stop selling CD's due to this. They buy it, burn it, claim you've never sent it and then you'll see them sell it a month later. I am currently having a dispute with a person over an EP and I put tracking on it. Even with the proof of delivery it looks like ebay is going to have me grab my ankles and spell "RUN"

There are other sites that offer similar services. I hope that maybe one of them will take off and do to ebay what myspace did to friendster. But I doubt that will happen.

tony286 01-03-2009 11:49 PM

tried couldnt sell shit

pamon 01-04-2009 12:26 AM

used to sell, too many scammers on ebay and too much hassle. the adult stuff is hidden and can't do PP for payments. no BIN on adult either. Ebay's gotten too big and too cumbersome. Too many fees too..

travs 02-13-2009 12:56 PM

i think now is a good time to sell again

fujiko 02-13-2009 05:53 PM

I used to have a big store there with load of customers from 03-06.. The profit margin was just gtting lower & lower each time cos of the fees, so i said screw them & closed.
I definitely do not miss those time at all.

candyflip 02-13-2009 05:54 PM

We sell quite a large amount of used video games and consoles.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 02-13-2009 05:58 PM

i sale short icq on ebay

Barefootsies 02-14-2009 09:38 AM

I normally sell off old computer parts and pieces when I buy new.
That really is about it. I buy on there almost as little.

Horny Dude 02-14-2009 12:08 PM

I sell stuff on there all the time. Mostly office equipment (printers, ink, sorting machines) that I buy direct from auctions. I used to do pretty good, but lately the prices have fallen. I just chalk it up to the economy.

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 02-14-2009 12:14 PM

i sell worn panties

Craigs List 100% now... Get alot more money too, even do trades like, ugh bring some beer and I'll give you this old sensor (that i found in my neighbors trashbin)
Guys pull up with cases of beer everyday now and are so happy to get these worthless trinkets... its amazing how Ebay is still in business.. but from what i gather are failing fast now...

james_clickmemedia 02-14-2009 07:42 PM

Have one of my cars for sale on Ebay right now. First week it in did make the reserve however got within 2k so not terrible.

With cars it's tough and they don't seem to fetch much over wholesale, unless you are willing to wait weeks to sell it..
