LOL that's alot, I have a girl friend that sends average 3000 per month, all for free though. Everytime she loads her phone with $30 she get's 3000 free text messages.

That is fucking insane... I hate texts.

I wonder if she knows my daughter. That's all she does is text.

I'm around a shit load of girls that age, and that's what everyone was talking about last night. I had to ban cell phones during practice because they would literally sit in the same room, five feet apart, and text each other.

One girl's mom told me she did 8,000 one month and her dad thought it was a misprint and called AT&T, only to get the truth smack-down. :1orglaugh

My nearly 13 year old son and his friends do this. It makes me nuts.

Also, he recently got into it with one of his buddies, and they spent 2 hours smack talking each other via text. I make him pay for his own texting, and this incident caused him to go over his 1500 by about 300 texts.

I wanted to smack him upside the head for being stupid enough to pay to argue.

Another...this past Friday his razor got the white screen of death. He FREAKED. Never mind that he could still make and receive calls perfectly well. He could not text. He was in a panic until a new phone got ordered.

It's been pretty fun watching him this week, sniveling and shaking, huddled in the corner, waiting on his jones in the form of a blackjack 2 to get here.

It's amazing to watch actually... they usually don't even have a full keyboard, just a keypad and they text entire paragraphs without once looking at the phone.
Their thumb just rifles through the buttons a million miles a minute.

We travel for competitions and they sit on the bus or in the cars and text each other. We go out to eat, and they text each other at the table. In the hotel, they all sit out in the hall, lined up with their backs to the wall, and text each other. They hold their phones out in front of them, take a picture, and then text it to every single girl, so they all have the same pics. It's never ending.

I just got a Quickfire 2 weeks ago because they text me constantly, even though I hate to text, and it was taking me all day to answer them on my Razor.

I figured it was just a girl thing.

i have almostmastered that i always text or email while driving and after a few close calls over time i can text without lookng at keyboard

They've added the number of recieved messages to the number, so the real number is around 7000... which isn't that insane for many teen girls today

I hate it when you are in a club or somewhere with some people and all they seem to do is text other people, rather than actually speak to the company they are out with.

Why it is that the people who aren't there, are always more important to them than the people who are ??

it IS insane because it's stupid. You have a PHONE and you want to type? Oh here's cray idea CALL the person. If they or you are in a situation where they can't talk you probably shouldn't be texting either.

even "unlimited" plans are a rip off. Unless you do 10 billion messages a month you are being fucked over by the phone company.

here's come simple math. Texts has alimit of 160 characters( some it's only 140 ) now 160 character is 160 bytes. It takes 1024 bytes to make a KB and 1024 of those to make a MB and 1024 to make a GB. So in other words to send 1 GB worth of texts and assuming you are using all of you 160 chracters in each message you'd have to send 6.7 MILLION texts. Now we all know than any one in this biz doesn't pay more than 10 cents a GB so the cost to the phone company is even cheaper.

Nope, Miss Holly, it is not just a girl thing. With my own eyes I witnessed my son and his friend sit next to each other at a ballgame, and they were both texting furiously. I asked who they were texting that was so important that they weren't watching the game.

The answer..."each other".

I knew then that I was getting very, very old.

I hate to text as well. I mean, one message is okay. But if you are going to send me 25 in a row, call me.

I am about to break down and get a blackberry so that I can have a qwerty keyboard. I refuse to text in that God awful 'textese' stuff, and I am so slow that I'll have 5 messages waiting before I can get one sent out.

Thank god I was born before cell phones and never caught the bug to own one. I wouldnt know how to turn ON a blackberry and you know what? I continue to exist :D hehehe

We give these kids phones to text on every minute of the day and then wonder why they don't pay attention in class... oh wait, that's “ADD". At Christmas my brother's phone kept beeping with new messages, I wanted to smack him.

that's what i think - god parents are weak today, they'll regret it and it will be too late.

My 13-year-old brother has one and he can only use it for emergency use and when he needs to be picked up from practice or something like that. That is appropriate use in my opinion and what people should be going for... plus, that is a dirt cheap way to utilize a technology properly. You have a couple kids and they all talk on the phone all the time... how in the hell can families afford that? No wonder they are broke.
