RIP Circuit City
Looks like they will close the remaining 567 stores.
http://www.crn.com/retail/212900983 Circuit City (NYSE:CC), which had been attempting to survive a consumer electronics retail maelstrom with a bankruptcy protection filing, is shuttering its remaining 567 retail outlets and liquidating. The country's second largest CE retailer, which had hoped to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection by July 1, announced Friday that it will seek bankruptcy court approval to begin the process to liquidate the assets of the company. |
Time for some sales!
|
i drive by the one they closed here and cant help but look at the desolate building just sitting there lol
|
im not surprised. by their employees with lack of any knowledge of products to their scam of an extended warranty, i feel no pity and say "good by circuit city" :1orglaugh
|
Very sad. I agree about incompetent employees, though. They didn't filter very well.
|
I guess I am not surprised. I will not miss thier customer service. It was consistently one of the worst I have ever had to deal with.
|
Hmmm I'm wondering if that means discounted products for sale before closing?
The store near me is still open and I could totally do with a new big screen plasma. LOL |

Best Buy? Really think they will be next?

They just built and opened a brand new store in my area. I attended the grand opening and the following week they made the announcement that they were closing some stores.

For those looking for a deal here's the deal.
CC will put it into the hands of a liquidation company. At first they mark up the price and then discount it to make it look like a sale. Not much to be had in the beginning. Then they will continue to mark items down over a set period of time, like every ten days, until the last open day sometime in March. So the longer you wait the better the deal. The question is how long are you willing to wait to get the best price and hope it doesn't get sold out first. I went though this when CompUSA closed the same way and I believe it's the same liquidation co. I didn't buy any big ticket items but I did manage to get quite a few $60 360 games for $20 |
What to do with my Circuit City Credit Card? It has/had a 7K limit.
