From what I understand the plane did exactly what it is supposed to do in a water landing. Like for instance I just learned that they designed them so that the engines will sheer off in such an event without taking off the wings.

Yeah, thought they got out fast as well. I think that is a Concorde in the background as they got one at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum nearby.
