anyone want to share the secret of getting listed in dmoz?
I have been trying for over 6 months for a certain site and nothing. I know not to re submit it, that will reset it in the queue. the site is theadultworld. maybe its the site.
I thought you had to pay off somebody that reviews submissions
Make sure you are in the most applicable sub-sub-sub-category.
Does that even matter anymore?
There might not even be any editors left to be honest with you. |
I finally got a mainstream site on there after a year of trying to get listed. They put me in a totally different category then what I originally submitted the site for.
Offer something unique and of substance to the surfer for the niche or category, if its allready there and there is nothing to stand you out, OR if you are blatently reselling or building for profit as affiliate, then don't bother.
I have several mainstream listings and this is just what gets them in there. Unique, relevant and interesting, which makes them a value to the directory. |
You either need patience & great content OR a friend who's a dmoz editor.
I've got friends in high places.

I did not even apply, and some of my sites found their way in. Funny. Back in the day, you had to pay people off. :2 cents: |
having a friend there makes it short work, I've seen sites get listed within a month of the right person buying the site, it is definitely not full of any integrity anymore :2 cents:
dmoz is not relevant anymore anyways, it is just another directory, don't waste much time worrying about it |
its easy to get in there if ur content is interesting & u arent promotin anythin too hard.

back in the day it used to be the easiest directory to get onto... its only been the late 3 years or so that have went downhill with dmoz... I only assume they got more and more discouraged with the overwhelming growth of google and decided to not care and/or moved on for the most part... |

how much does a bribe cost?
is it even worth it anymore. Have not heard the name in years.
Okay, if dmoz isn't worth bribing your way into, what has taken its place?xx

You have to know an editor OR become one. :2 cents:
I don't think anyone uses that site any more. Even editors don't log in any more, which is probably why nobody has approved or disapproved your site.
Forget about DMOZ :2 cents:
Go with what works...

I tried to bribe my sites about three years ago, and the shits blacklisted me. Goes to show, not everyone is on the internet to make money, some people like to feel important!

Either way... it WAS easy to get up in Dmoz in its prime... |
I pretty much have given up. There are never editors for the cats I want or they aren't active.
ya nothing still http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/searc...adultworld.com I'm giving up. They also removed one of older listings last year. Lame
The first thing you need is a Time Machine. When you get one of those, let me know and I'll give you further instructions.
