How do you guys know that this doesn't happen more often with actors? This happened to be recorded. I imagine things can get pretty intense on movie sets. Maybe this was a real instense scene Bale was working on, and he just lost it. It appears the camera guy had made the same mistake more than once as well.

You have to realize that when you lay something down as an actor and you like it and someone fucks it up you feel like, "Wow, that was Oscar shit right there and now it is edit room floor shit..."

What a prima donna.

It's a bad idea to piss off the director of photography. Bale will be lucky if he ever looks good again. Those tricks that cinematographers use to make people look good -- they're optional.
