Sony Vaio - YES/NO Whut?

Worth buying or not?

Any experiences with this range?

Thanks

Had one many years ago.

Worst laptop ever.

I have one of the solidstate HD TZ range.
Very lightweight, very nimble.

Best laptop purchase - easily worth the premium.
I've had a few laptops, and I've got high standards of - lightweight, nimble, workable.

You will however, need to format them to get rid of all the sony shit.

Can't speak for their other laptops - only the TZ range.

Got two of them recently and love them.

Some models have a program installed that checks to see if the battery is a genuine sony battery, forcing users to only buy inflated sony products. link

The display on my vaio used to cut out, leaving an all single colored picture on the screen. Hard rebooting fixed it, but was a pain because you can't see the screen to save any work first. Luckily though, the display hasn't done this in a few months. And when it did cut out, it was about 1-2 times/month.

Other than the shady sony programs and display cutting out occasionally, vaios aren't too bad and they do look pretty nice. They might not be worth paying retail price for, but they sure are worth shooting for on the 'win a free laptop' sites. :upsidedow

I have had 4 laptops and there hasn't been one laptop that I didn't get brand new from the company that I haven't formatted and put a fresh, CLEAN, install of xp on

i hate how companies load all their shit on the laptop like that, I have a ghost of an xp install that I have been using for years now, works perfectly and I update it every 2-3 months

Agreed. Have one now that is a replacement from the first one that died after about 3 months. This one is a piece of shit too.

I will NEVER buy another Sony computer.

collegeboobies 02-03-2009 08:27 PM

I've had one before, I like them

Phil21 02-03-2009 08:35 PM

Yeah, I can't speak to what they are currently producing...

But, the one I had was so horrible I will never touch a Sony ever in my lifetime. Period.

Lenovo T-series all the way.

I will say the Sony looked pretty - but that's about it :)

Good luck though! I'm sure your experience will be better than mine.
