myspace, twitter, facebook

Anyone use them.

Are they a fad?

I mean myspace was big, but have people simply moved to facebook, and I bet in a year or so another one will be big.

Blazed 02-06-2009 03:20 AM

If myspace was a fad it would of gone away by now, it is still huge and retains a lot of its popularity even though facebook over took it. The only one i could see being a fad is twitter, which is all over the tv here now with everyone talking about it but i dont see it having the long term appeal of the myspace/facebook type sites.

myspace was a fad....
but I remember facebook
I joined about 4 years ago (I believe it started about 5 years ago)
it has only gotten bigger and bigger and went from a program limited to college campuses in america to a global phenomenon available to anyone

I lived abroad last year and it finally started to catch on in the world.....I would walk around in Israel and people kept saying "faebook, facebook, I'm gonna add these pics to my facebook, did you see his profile on facebook? etc" I also did some traveling in Jordan but I don't remember hearing much about it there....
I think facebook has got another few good years and is going to demonstrate at least some staying power-it's now finally starting to hit the rest of the world

Myspace's growth has levelled out at how you would expect a site with 100,000,000+ members. Traffic levels are roughly the same as ever, how exactly was it a fad? A fad grows huge popularity and then declines sharply. Myspace has been around 5 or 6 years... People who use facebook mostly also have a myspace and vice versa.

bobby666 02-06-2009 03:29 AM

never used any of them, but i am going to do so soon

I guess your right...I was using antecdotal evidence...NONE of my friends do myspace anymore
it's not "cool"
the only people I know on there are music artists touting their tunes.......

facebook has now more users than myspace.

myspace members have not increased much over the year.

i think people sign up to these sites, use them for a few months big time, then move on.

Are you fucking kidding me?

MySpace has over 100 million users.
Facebook has over 150 million users.
Twitter has over 5 million visitors a month, and is growing exponentially right now.

And for those who don't understand what that means: ignoring them is not an option.

Yes facebook is more popular now i already said that. And of course myspace users levelled out, it hits its peak and levelled out that what tends to happen. The same will happen with facebook soon if it already hasnt. But myspace has not been declining sharply, it simply levelled out which does not point to it being a fad. And what do you mean they use them for a few months? Are you serious?

After Shock Media 02-06-2009 03:48 AM

I have a myspace - it is for friends. Also have a spare for a mainstream start up project.
I have a facebook - for some other people.
I have a few twitters - All for assorted mainstream projects. Nice part is I have not even been spamming it places trying to get followers and have still been getting a lot of followers organically. They also really like my stuff and click. Enough said.

I am sure it could work for adult (ok know they can), sure adult will try to bastardize it as well since few are that smooth with how they use such tools and rather just abuse them - possibly fucking them up for good for everyone.

Use them right and they are pure goldmines. Not even sure why the fuck I am even sharing this here. What I do may not be rocket science with it, yet my little set of projects and how I am working them are putting views where I need them, clicks where they count, and checks in my mailbox.

HorseShit 02-06-2009 07:25 AM

quiet 02-06-2009 07:25 AM

for me, the main thing that makes facebook so great is when you are traveling. it's makes it rediculously easy to share photos, videos, keep in contact, etc from just about anywhere in the world.

tranza 02-06-2009 08:14 AM

Just using deviant-art, best!

BigDickDFromCincinnati 02-06-2009 08:17 AM
