Yeah I had one that lasted about 3 years. Had issues with the power supply port as well as the screen hinges.

Should have gone with a Dell.

Dell has those same problems trust me lol.

He should of stuck with Toshiba. I do admit I still have a Dell Inspirion 8200 that still works, but I did have to replace 4 power supplies, and gut it and re solder the joints for the power port, and replace the hinges 2 times, and replace the front screen bezel, and replace the touch pad, but it does still work hehe.

I like my Toshiba Qosmio though :thumbsup

d-null 02-10-2009 02:05 PM

silvija 02-10-2009 03:10 PM

Very good laptop

riscphree 02-10-2009 03:47 PM

I'm an IBM/Lenovo guy for life. I've got two thinkpads and absolutely love them.

I do however have an HP DV6426us that I got recently when I traded my desktop for it. So far it's been nice as a desktop replacement. Mobile and decent processing power. Works great for me so far!

Check your all programs menu, there should be something like 'Create HP Restore Disc'. Just pop in a dvd and let it burn.

ExLust 02-10-2009 07:54 PM

Good choice.

bdld 02-10-2009 07:58 PM

i get a new laptop every 6-12 months and about half of them have been HP, never had any problems with any of them that weren't caused by me.

bdld 02-10-2009 08:04 PM

on the other hand i've had dells where the battery life starts dwindling and the lid hinges get weak.

chelis 02-11-2009 10:02 AM

HP or DELL, both are excellent choices.

I'd rather DELL because of the design. :2 cents:

Darkcrni 02-11-2009 10:50 AM

jesse_adultdatingdollars 02-11-2009 11:17 AM

Its crazy how many different opinions there are. For the record I will give the Toshiba I have a B Grade. I have had to fix the power connection 3 times. 2 new batteries. It only has one usb port left, lol but it works decent still after 5-6 years.

My new HP is loaded to the hilt with ram and memory. It should fly :)

Should have gone with a Dell.

Every laptop gets problems with the power supply port. It cost $25-$75 to repair depending on who does. Or if you can solder, the part cost $5

ztik 02-11-2009 11:24 AM

oh and im on my 3rd HP, none have failed. I simply upgraded. Awesome laptops.

about to buy a new one, but im trying to find ones with some more powerfull specs

I disagree, the only thing about dell that sucks is that they only give you support for that crappy os named Windows Vista.

candyflip 02-12-2009 11:43 AM

I only buy HP and Apple hardware. The HP stuff keeps up with the Apple stuff just fine, at a fraction of the cost.

who the hell needs support for the OS anyway

GoNe 02-12-2009 02:57 PM

HP is the worst crap ever. Bought a nice HP laptpop 1 year ago for around 1200 USD and it went bananas on me a few weeks ago. This was just a few days after the warranty expired :D

Yesterday I orderd myself a new laptop from Dell.

I meant driver support, you can only use it with that OS or wait for a third party to release second hand drivers.
