**KINK.com ** Lay off 12 Staff **

Founder Peter Acworth of Kink.com confirmed today that it has laid off 12 Staff (11%)

Hope it picks up again for them I really like Kink !

MrDeiz 02-16-2009 08:30 AM

What was really cool last year as part of cybernet expo was the chance to visit Kinks awesome headquarters ...talk about huge, you can get lost in there.

Peter was a great host and threw a really nice evening of events. :)

U.R.A.M.F.S 02-16-2009 10:00 AM

you are dumb as a brick wall. the entire industry has been shaving the fat for the last 9 months. many programs have dumped over 40% of their staffs. where do you live? under a bridge?

1BB 02-16-2009 11:13 AM

bad news

notime 02-16-2009 11:26 AM

I hope John, Terry, pock-it and the guys I know there are not amongst them. I like them a lot.

HookUPcom 02-16-2009 11:30 AM

In my experience, usually you don't lay people off until long after you should... 12 at one time is scary. Good luck to 'em.

.

tony286 02-16-2009 11:33 AM

times are rough out there.

RyuLion 02-16-2009 11:33 AM

yeap, they probably didn't need them..

I've noticed that this week I've been getting sales again..

So far this month:
1:270

2008 midyear: 1:181

C-Luv 02-16-2009 11:34 AM

Oh, that sucks.

Sands 02-16-2009 11:35 AM

Hopefully they kept the mechanic who attends to the fucking machines. That guy is indispensable.

jakethedog 02-16-2009 11:38 AM

tranza 02-16-2009 12:06 PM

This is affecting all countries, mainly here in Brazil, there's a lot of unemployed people, this is so sad... :(

BradM 02-16-2009 12:08 PM

They needed 12 staff? I thought they maybe employed 6 people tops.

If you need 100+ people to run that site, you suck as a company owner.

You would say different after you've visited their building and saw the operation and meet those guys in person.
:2 cents:

Based on the numbers that Claire posted they should have (or should have had) around 100?

All true, been there too:
http://www.adultcontent.nl/vegas2009...sco/index.html
That place is HUGE and there's like 40 smart/great people working on every floor

fuzebox 02-16-2009 01:48 PM

CyberClaire: your new board name is very 90s.

BradM 02-16-2009 01:52 PM

I don't care how big their building is. They run a bondage company. You guys are missing the point. As small business owners you should 'get it'.

Congrats. They have a large brick building. Now can someone tell me why the fuck they need 100+ employees?

Do you have some strange insight into their company where you know every one of their divisions and operations? There are many adult companies that have over 100 employees and your first thought is "wow, why so many?" And then you get talking and they tell you about everything that they really have going on and it isn't so shocking.

A lot of companies don't "just" run pay sites.

stever 02-16-2009 02:17 PM

bradm they shoot everything in house
someone has to clean the floors and walls after those scenes

They paid like 14.5 mil for that big brick building.

Do you Sly?

They might distribute DVDs, sell oranges on the street corners in LA and build fucking rocket ships on the side. I've seen DVD operations with 2 guys in warehousing, 3 in marketing, 1 boss, 6 set guys and then contracted talent.

If this giant brick building has 100 employees, they have too many. Absolute bottom line.

I guess that's why they just fired 12. That's a start.

BradM 02-16-2009 02:36 PM

All I am saying is they probably have too many people on staff sitting around doing nothing. And my point is proven, they are firing people. So argue all you want, I don't care. You're wrong.

If you want to see the problem of this Industry - just read this thread. What a joke, so much doom and gloom. No wonder most of you are broke and bitching.

We laid off like 10 people in 2002, just think.. then hired more, and laid off more. We built one product, hired people, canned them, canned the product. Shit must have been crazy bad, depression like... hell, it must have been the economy. Hahaha..

It's called 'doing business' and just because you downsize some staff, doesn't mean shit is going bad.

Hell lets add some happy light into this thread - Maybe the Company streamlined an operation to be taken care of by one illegal Mexican thus, they they fired people and saved millions to re-invest into the porn market and business.

Doom and gloom... if it isn't the eco kicking you in the balls it's piracy.. how about this shock of logic.. it's you!

no one mentioned the economy or doom & gloom. every serious post was pretty much a *trim the fat* comment.

id remember to consider the context of this announcement. companies have been laying people off left and right recently and 12 people is a lot at one time.

but yea, it could be anything. but generally, this is a low point in this industry for paysite sales, and who knows whether it could recover or not, in the same state it was before

Read much? "bad news ((( - bad news - 2 at one time is scary - times are rough out there." Among other things..

So let's think.. Say the same repeat bullshit everyone else did or come up with something unique.. that is also true.

And this isn't the first thread either on the subject or related... but I will give you a break only being around these parts for 3 months.

DirtyDanza 02-16-2009 09:02 PM

what bad times you guys talking about... he's laying off im looking to hire....

if your sales are bad with them you need to promote someone who is not hurting like me....

im surprised... I think there is something behind it... ive seen kink numbers latley and they look great.... now the numbers I am surprised at is aff... holy shit they are low..... I bet kink does way more than aff does

FYI...... quoted from another board......... by Morten, from Global Access

I can now confirm that we have given up on solving this matter in a friendly way. No money was returned by Sarah aka Claire and we are going to pursue legal actions to recover all our losses.

I normally don't take things to the boards, sometimes deals can go wrong for whatever reason it might be, but it is a slap in the face seeing someone continuesly posting as if it is business as usual without giving any efforts into solving a 5 digit sum dispute.

Don Pueblo 02-16-2009 11:50 PM

so wait? claire took global access for a bunch of money for promotions stuff and they have attempted to get the money back because she didn't deliver and it's been unsuccessful, so now due and GA are forced to take legal actions? thats how it reads all over the other boards. due why don't you lay this broad out? she don't have any friends here. everyone knows since day one that she's a fake and that shawn idiot is worse.
