Reciprocal links and _nofollow?

Is it wrong to ad a rel="_nofollow" to reciprocal links if you are doing heavy white-hat SEO?

I'm sure there are opinions on both side so I just want a general consensus.

if you're doing a link exchange and reciprocating with a nofollow, you're a shithead...

i'd pull your links in a heartbeat, and i wouldn't give you shit for a warning about it either...

peeperpimp 02-23-2009 01:10 PM

That defeats one of the purposes of hardlink tradeing

evofuse 02-23-2009 01:19 PM

That's what I thought.

I agree, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose?

Good luck to you!

You scam your link exchange partners if you put nofollow ...

DannyA 03-12-2009 01:16 PM

As far as the engines are concerned, you're supposed to put nofollow if you do a link trade. LOL!

Nofollow links are still good. They just don't pass PR but they pass everything else. Really though, your trade partners are expecting you to help them boost their PR so it's not fair.

Google, for one, is pretty clear about that

True, but if it costs YOUR site PR in order to boost your trade's PR than what's the point?

I'd rather have more googley-goodness than the traffic you get from most trades :2 cents:

I think it is scummy that Google even introduced the nofollow tag. Google just wants to be the only way anyone can get traffic, so they penalize people for buying and selling links, banners, etc.
