Would you rather see DJ Quik or Metal Skool next?

We're planning on throwing another event during XBiz in Vegas. We can either throw a Players Ball or a Rock The Ball.

We've done Metal Skool, now called Steel Panther, and they totally rocked! Matter of fact, I have a ton of people begging me to do them again. So I know it would be a hit.

Or do we have another legend perform at the Players Ball, DJ Quik. I've always wanted to have Quik perform. I can have a live band behind him too, which would be an amazing show.

Of course I'll need sponsors so hit me up if you're interested in either format.

I'm leaning towards Steel Panther (Metal Skool).

Love some feedback on this.

My gut says more people would want rock this time.

wtfent 03-03-2009 05:42 PM

Is it a Players Ball or a Rock The Ball?

If Players Ball, then the only choice is DJ Quick

MetaMan 03-04-2009 10:57 AM

only a fucking idiot would turn down DJ Quick, real westcoast flavor.

D-Money 03-04-2009 11:02 AM

Great feedback so far, much appreciated.

Robbie 03-04-2009 11:04 AM

Steel Panther (formerly Metal Skool) are my choice.

The dumbasses on here slagging on their picture don't have a clue about their show.

They are deliberately trying to look like over the top 1980's hair band musicians. It's a comedy show. And it's funny as shit. And on top of that they do kick ass playing all the hair band music too. So that's a lot of fun.

Just saw the show again a couple of weeks ago at Alliante here in Vegas. Had me rolling in laughter. The bass player with the tats on his stomach keeps a hand mirror and a bottle of hairspray and does his hair between every song. lol

They saw Claudia-Marie and brought her up onstage and took her tits out. The singer then said: "Damn bitch, it looks like somebody just poured titties all over your chest! We want to just punch you right in the tits and then fuck you in the ass"

It's some funny ass shit, and they totally go over the top portraying the cliched drugged out, oversexed stupidity of the 80's hair band image.

Steel Panther/Metal Skool definitely gets my vote.

I'd much rather watch a well thought out adult comedy/music show like Steel Panther, than the usual rap show of a couple of drunk guys grabbing their crotches and talking over a dj playing a record.

I guarantee you that I'll do Quik in the near future. The question is whether I do him at the XBiz summer show or another show soon after.

Ramos 03-04-2009 11:07 AM

DJ Quik all the way.

Roast would be nice, but tough to set up to pull it off right.

Robbie 03-04-2009 11:07 AM

Check out their newest original song...heard it on Sirius Radio the other day and almost died laughing...you have to listen to the lyrics. For an example, the first words to this song are: "Fuck the Goo Goo Dolls, They can suck my balls" And it gets crazier from there. lol

Well since only two of us quote the picture I take it you are referring to me or the other.

Dumbasses are those entertained by such moronic concepts. Im probably one of the biggest metal fans on this forum, and id rather hear Quik do his old shit anyday than hear another band like the above.

seriously man, ive known of these acts for a long time.

I used to live in the valley and the Atomic Punks and the Metal Skool was regular, i cant even remember the fucking bar, its on Lankershim or some shit, i used to hang out in the bar these guys played in regularly. Ive seen them play, ive seen numerous bands with similar acts, its all the same lame crap. I believe the singer is the same in both Atomic Punks and Metal Skool, one impersonates Halen, the other, well you know...

my opinon, the all girl AC/DC cover bands better, seen them one night with metal Skool prolly like 10 years ago lol

seeric 03-04-2009 11:20 AM

Metal Skool.

No questions asked.

The show is at The Hard Rock. Not The Hard Rap.

The whole show is the one show that is rock based. It fits. Besides, we are talking about the music format now and I guarantee you that by the end of each day, people are going to be so sick of the same hip hop songs requested over and over again that they will welcome a great rock performance over anything.

Rock all the way D.

Sorry bro. I didn't mean the word dumbass in a vindictive way. I was just joking around. Damn written word doesn't convey intent. I apologize for saying that. I know better. :)

Well, there is also a summer show for Cybernet, considering DJ Quik for that, in the Bay.

Trust me, I'm dying to do Quik!

Hey, if any LA or Orange County playa's want to come with KB and I, we're on the list to see DJ Quik at the Grove.

"Quik?s Groove" DJ Quik performing live with Orchestra and surprise special guests
with Imani Walker, DJ Simon Sez

It's my birthday celebration and we'll be hooked up with VIP and backstage. This concert is the 13th of March. My man Quik has an Orchestra behind him. Maybe I should have an Orchestra with him for a Players Ball!

That sounds awesome dood, get me details...

As for the production... personal taste and having seen Metal Skool a couple times, I'm leaning towards quik.
