Circuit City......RIP

Today, the bones were picked clean of any remaining flesh. The stores closed yesterday. They will be missed. I spent a ton of cash and many pleasant afternoons cruising the DVDs, games and cameras for deals.

RIP ol' friend and say "hello" to CompUSA when you see them.

Some of us will miss you.

RadiantX 03-09-2009 09:49 PM

The one in Tampa had a old couch in the middle of the store for employees to chill. They had that "fuck if I care" attitude towards everyone. CC was overpriced anyways - even their clearance prices were borderline competitive. Good riddance.

baddog 03-09-2009 09:50 PM

I went in there a few weeks ago to get a new printer/scanner/copier/fax/bottle washer. Got a good deal on that, but I have to say, as I walked by the DVD aisle I could not believe the prices they were charging. Though the roof.

Redrob 03-09-2009 09:53 PM

I got a Velocity Micro GX435 for $1,100 when Amazon was asking $1,899 on a $2,199 list price.

Not too shabby.

abadfish 03-09-2009 10:03 PM

I read to get the best deal during Circuit City closing sale was to go to Best Buy. I browsed through the store and the inventory was horrible and so were the prices... I was expected an actual deal. :/

d-null 03-09-2009 10:05 PM

so now where does the remaining stock go?

ExLust 03-10-2009 12:47 AM

Surely you'll be missed.

rayadp05 03-10-2009 12:59 AM

I agree. The prices were really not that low at all. They should have lowered them alot lower.

Oh well, they're fucking history now. :1orglaugh

brassmonkey 03-10-2009 12:59 AM

best buy body slammed them broke their spinal cord rip

Puremeds-J 03-10-2009 01:04 AM

I'll miss the 18 year old girls trying to sell my something older than them.

DutchTeenCash 03-10-2009 02:32 AM

I'm glad Fry's Electronics is still around. Low prices, great selection, up to date merchandise, decent service

LiveDose 03-10-2009 08:30 AM

I never liked shopping there. Prices were ridiculous unless you catch the sales.

Similar to Sears & Bed Bath & Beyond. Way overpriced unless you are using a mailer or catching to good sale, then the prices become normal not great.

candyflip 03-10-2009 08:31 AM

I got some great shit a week ago. Sunday's pickings weren't too great.

Picked up 5 8GB Sony Memory Sticks for $10 each.

HorseShit 03-10-2009 08:35 AM

im glad about it

tranza 03-10-2009 09:20 AM

RIP bro!

Tom_PM 03-10-2009 09:25 AM

Never set foot in one. Never been in a best buy either. No need anymore to shop with your feet and your gas money. Dealing with some pimple faced kid.

burntfilm 03-10-2009 09:32 AM

Circuit City in my area always sucked, horrible customer service, rude employees, clearly mismanaged. Surprised they lasted so long with a Best Buy always right across the road. Good riddance

UFGators2007 03-10-2009 10:23 AM

Good riddance! They never had good prices compared to Best Buy or even Walmart, lol. The sales staff were worse than used car salesmen. They will not get an RIP from me. Fuck you, Circuit City!

Ha.. You should see the prices in the Sears here.. Want to talk about expensive.. But ours sells things like Hilfiger and Polo and things.

Horny Dude 03-10-2009 10:55 AM

Their customer service was the WORST! Clerks didn't have a clue on what they were selling, cashiers wouldn't say a word to you at all. They dug their own hole as far as I see, Let them die!

mikesouth 03-10-2009 11:04 AM

fuck them good riddance...I remember when they tried to shove divx down everyones throat.

The Seduction of Art 03-10-2009 11:19 AM

My old pot dealer used to work there.

mvee 03-10-2009 11:24 AM

They are the ones who invented the 'service insurance'. Biggest scam ever. Fuck them. On that note the Virgin Mega Store across the street is also going out of business

Reak AGV 03-10-2009 11:28 AM

Now we're waiting for wallmart to close its doors

Kenny B! 03-10-2009 11:49 AM

they were more expensive and had shitty service, survival of the fittest!

the same should happen to GM and Chrysler

John-ACWM 03-10-2009 12:12 PM

A lot of people bought some nice cheap stuff :)

That is because they removed the commission structure 10 years ago. I worked there when I was 18 and went from $28 an hour on commission to $6.95. Once that happened, nobody gave a shit anymore and I quit the next day. The good part of it all, is that I met my wife there, so I owe CC a thanks for that...And for getting me started with my own web based business! :thumbsup
