Pretty big scare tonight (dog people)
Well our oldest dog Shelby puked up what looked like black bile in front of me 3 times earlier. Like a lot, and the stringy icky looking stuff. Full out black. Looked like something that would come out of a cancer patient puking. So had a song writing appointment down town at 7, so was there 3 hours just really worried. After looking online and seeing black bile is more than likely blood in the stomach. So I am thinking internal bleeding. Thinking she is dying. I almost didn't go to my appointment, and came home early as I could. This dog is my baby had her over 12 years now and she is like a human most of the time. Watches tv, sleeps in our bed. Gets jealous of other people and other dogs being near me, etc.
So I come home all freaked out and worried, didn't get much done writing (almost full song, but not quite done) and was looking all around for more puke of death. So no more puke anywhere, so Im thinking ok maybe it was a cut she got from eating something, and bled and now its stopped or something. So talking to Boxer on the phone and walking around on the back deck and I let the dogs out while talking to him. Thats when I see them licking the over year old grease out of the grease catcher on the grill, and everything makes sense lol. Both dogs were spitting up or throwing up black shit. But not illness or bleeding, just from them eating the grease while I wasn't looking. They were out on the porch earlier today while the comcast guy was here for a good hour. So here I am thinking my beloved dog is dying and Ill end up having to goto the vet in the morn where they will tell me she has to be put down, and its just cause she ate some black grease that looked like rear axle grease. lol well anyways phew. Ill sleep easier now. :thumbsup |
as I was reading it.. I was thinking... TAMPON..
;) But glad it wasn't a tampon or something deadly. |
I came back one night blind drunk to find my dog with his chest ripped open by a friends dog... Put a shirt over him and wrapped him in an ace bandage. In the morning he got about 260 stiches... a drain... and lived to show off the wound.

As a dog owner myself I can relate to the worries you must have gone through. My 4 year old retriever that I rescued 2 years ago went through about 6 months of health issues just from being almost 30lbs underweight and not having a strong enough immune/digestive system to fight off the simpelest of things...he would get sick just from ingesting a bit of grass.
The scariest was when he had massive amounts of blood in his stool...I was seriously freaking out as it happened less than 2 months after I brought him home from the shelter...but luckily it wasnt anything serious and some antibiotics cleared it up and hasnt happened since but I wasnt even able to go out for even an hour without stressing out about him. |
damn it can be scary...
my wife gave our male dog the day before some soft food in with the dry food... I told her NO NO NO ( I worked at a vet for 2 years we treated everything from birds to exotics like tigers, lions, leopards you name it) anyways.. the next day we wake up to bloody shit all over floor by the back door... the wife is trippen im just laughing... saying I TOLD YOU SO... but women never listen.... glad your dog is OK loosing a pet or a sick pet sucks ass..... they get into so much shit |
Ya the symptoms didn't match up. I should of caught it earlier I was just preoccupied. She didn't seem lethargic, nose felt right, she was acting fine, but she was just a bit nervous about me getting my guitar and stuff ready to go. (she gets nervous when she sees me packing stuff up or anything) But once I realized about the black grease out back it all fit lol. Phew. :thumbsup

wow that sucks maybe before you try to train your dog to use paragraphs you should train yourself first.

Ya no more black pukey since yesterday. Now trying to get stains out of the carpets, was a bit worried about carpet yesterday, but doggies are more important than that. The grease is a bitch in carpets. Have to get some dawn dish detergent and let it soak into the areas to lift the grease out. Oxy stuff none of that worked to fully remove the stains like it normally would.
Dogs are playing and running around. Thought I might be burying my best friend of almost 13 years today, instead sitting on our enclosed rear deck next to the hot tub on cushioned swing on a 74 degree sunny day watching the two dogs running around and play fighting. Needless to say much relief since yesterday. lol |
Glad its ok. That can be fucking scary.

I have to take my big male Rottweiler in today to have his toe nail looked at. Looks to me like he has a nailbed tumour in one, which means the whole toe will have to be amputated. Poor fellah.

Glad everything worked out for you. Tomorrow we are loading up our almost three year old lab and heading to Colorado State Animal Clinic where he will have test done to him. Our local vet has removed Stage 2 tumors from one of his back legs twice now so now we have a 4.5 hour drive ahead of us to get him checked out and see what the options will be.
